So how many do you reckon will be here on boards, instead of being out in the freezing cold? Gonna say between 200-299 myself seeing as there may be alot who can't due to physical/mental illness or just cant be bothered:)

I shall be outside btw, not indoors keeping warm lol

So how many will be on Boards 00:00 Jan 1st? 100 votes

I will be here but bear in mind there are supposedly 2639 on line right now. Some people have the page open but are not around.

There was a mod showing online but was actually away on a weeks holiday.

My mother tried to hint that my brother and his wife have nothing to do new years eve also. NO WAY am I spending my new years eve with that boring **** talking about his child and his dogs and his foregin travel. FVCK YOU AS*HOLE  LOL

I hate NYE. All the "mwah mwah, we all love each other really" bull puts me off my drink.

Sickens me as some the people you A: don't know or B: wouldint spit on your side of the street sober, the're so up their own arses.

I like a nice quite drink, a laugh, a group of friends joking about the year thats been. This mass mobbing, no taxis, no chatting (as the musics so loud) and insane entrance fees make me want to stay at home. So, i will.

Me probably. Been laid up since Christmas night with what I think is either a small fracture in the femur or a torn groin muscle. :( Off for XRays Friday. Until then God Bless the Interweb. :pac:

I feel bad for the people who would be on boards at midnight. Its both sad and scary to think that most people are alone or have no feckin shape of a social life.

What about people who have commitments or are just past such revelry?

I certainly won't be going out to any partay or overpriced club / bars full of pretentious jumped up 20 something year olds.

Not sure where you get off calling people like me sad who are past being a scene queen. It will be a bottle of plonk and some chilled tunage for me.

BTW I am 11 hours ahead so yes I will most likely be on Boards come midnight (GMT) ;)

Its okay to have a get-together at home but if your not socializing with real people in the big SCARY world, your just not going to like what I have to say. Sorry if you don't like reality my friend

Galway is hardly big and scary now is it?

So tell me Mr Worldly what is reality .. is it getting pissed, talking sentimental sh!te before the inevitable cheezy countdown as you desperately try to grab the nearest person to you and try to stick your tongue down their throat as the clock strikes midnight? Or do you have something more exciting lined up?

Just a bit too cliched for me.

I'm sorry you have taken this badly. If you would rather be on an internet message board on NYE then having fun and knowing that the inevitable walk of pride home after some "spontanious movement". Enjoy NYE anyways if that is fun to you I should not question you. MERRY NYE

Meh, NYE is an overrated rip off. If you want to waste your money and that is fun for you then congrats. You're in no position to criticise what anyone else does.

In answer to the OP's question, I'll be on boards when the New Year is ringing in, as I'm sure most people will be, seeing as it happens somewhere in the world every hour for most of the day.

I shall be playing WoW whilst drinking a bottle of vodka.

I don't want to go out and squeeze into a pub that takes 1 hour simply to get to the bar to buy a drink which has increased in price and then not having the room to do anything bar stand in a spot with barely enough room to bring the drink to my mouth all for the pleasure of counting from 10-1

Even being a sad bastard and playing a puter game is a more fun than that. F*ck new years imo :)

I was gonna say bah humbug but that is soooo last week!

Dude don't get me wrong I am not against people who want to large it and get pished. The past few years have been really messy so I am happy with a few quiet drinks and an earlyish night ;)

WTF is the walk of pride home? Is that like when you have scored multiple kisses from random strangers and are taking one lucky chickie babe home for a root? :D

Rather be on boards than at the pub for nye anyways. If i go to a houseparty i step outside for the countdown cause its just too silly and forced excitement does nothing for me. So i just go where its easiest to drink and relax and if thats my bedroom with boards on so be it.

Thinking I'll stay in and watch a film. May have a drink or two but more than likely I'll settle into the couch as it's getting dark and enjoy some good films, a selection of tasty snacks and some tea or soft drinks.

Going out has really lost it's appeal and more often than not I find myself heading home early on the nights that I do go out. It's so much nicer to just have a few quiet pints followed by something to eat and then back to a house with some friends to talk or watch a film.

Drinking to get drunk has never appealed to me which is what so many people do. Their sole aim for a anight out is to get as wasted as possible and head home with a stranger. Just does'nt interest me.

I haven't decided yet what I'm doing for NYE but I wont be on Boards!

I'm not a huge fan of it really. Last year I was sick so I ended up playing boardgames with toolhead (the ex) and my mother. Still didn't end up on Boards though! Not that there's anything wrong with being on boards, but it's nice to spend the moment with family and friends.

who is going to be the saddo that posts while it happens?!!

i wont be near a computer for the day or 2 after it, but im sure in some peoples defence -

they will be logged on, but maybe not even near the computer.
maybe hosting a house party and have the laptop on for music for example and be checking internet every now and then.

Pub and house party. Since some time in the early to mid 90s I've stayed in once on New Year's Eve (with an ex) and it was horribly dull. I'm not saying it's an amazing night out or anything - same as any night really - but I'd prefer to be out, seeing as my mates are out anyway. That's just me though.

Here's a thought: There are people who, for some reason or another, will be spending New Year's Eve alone and who were going to post on Boards like any other night.

Now these people are reading that they will be branded 'saddos' () if they do so, so might not bother.

Could turn out to be a very lonely night. I hope it doesn't happen though.

    /serious
