right, this is the situation, 30 year old male, 5'7, 11stone 4lbs, want to get back into shape and fit again for the new year, two of the aims this year, is one, to do a 110km road bike ride in july, have done about 4 or 5 times before since 2001, missed out a few times, once due to a back injury, this year, just did not train, other times personal issues

other thing is to do 10km road/trail run is august, you may have heard of it, the warriors run, in strandhill sligo

now, used to love cycling, used to do around 100miles a week in my late teens, 10 miles a day commute for college/work, 50miles on averge weekends, usally on trails/single track, this year, maybe only went on a few rides, as for the running, have always struggled with this, attmpted to train for a marathon last year, but could only manage after a few weeks to do a few miles, at the time, had to get a medical cert to enter the marathon, which the GP gave me a clean bill of health, started playing football this year, but have found it hard to play regulary, and keep motivated, between the cold weather, shift work and a couple of injures along the way

so basically, just looking for tips and advice on how to complete this two aims, shift work means i cant train at the same time every day regualry, would ideally like to base my training around running, my bike, and exercises i can do in my room/garden, i dont drive, so usally any where i go to locally would be by foot, walk to work and home most days, at a brisk pace, takes about 25minutes

    thanks in advance
