Basically, if you are less fit than me then if you do the exact same workout you will burn more calories! I'm not saying you don't know how the system works, or that you are less fit than me or that my computer is more accurate than yours (I don't think any of then can be 100% accurate, just a rough guide)!

My Monday ride was a half-hilly 98.38km (D15 to Sally Gap and back), 2471kJ registered by the power meter. I'm 68kg ish + about 11kg of bike, clothing, fluids and food.

The standard approximate formula is 1 (k)calorie burned per kJ of energy spent through the drivetrain. The 4:1 factor represents the inefficiency of human metabolism.

This would suggest that your 2100 calories is about right, assuming it was flatter but faster than mine.

Yes much flatter, but slightly windy still. I weigh around 55kgs if that helps! :D

Ah ok. 55KG would explain things. I'd a bit over 100KG when the bike is included which shows why the figures were double.

Similar weight: Big advantage of that weight is the superior calorie burn:)

Sportstracks gave me a figure of 37,198 calories for the Tour of Ireland; I have certainly lost weight (was ill immediately before it which helped in the weight loss department, if not with the cycling :))

Did my century for May while on holiday in west Cork there on Thursday. Went from outside Clonakilty to Ballydehob. Beautiful part of the country, fantastic views for most of the way.

It was a relatively flat 100km with 1100metres total ascent spread over rolling terrain, no major climbs. Still, I'm pretty happy with the time of 3hrs 39mins giving just over 27km/h. Again it was my wish to keep up on this challenge that drove me to make the extra effort to arrange my schedule to fit this in, so I'll still aim to keep this up.
