Self explanatory - what films do you sit down and watch over and over and never get sick of?

Fillyums include Pan's Labyrinth, Little Miss Sunshine, Just Like Heaven, Hancock, The Santa Clause (simply because it has so many memories surrounding it!), the first Fast and the Furious, anything Wallace and Gromit, 300 (don't get why people didn't like it, I thought it was awesome - plus it's fun to scream THIS IS SPARTA to everyone), The Break Up, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, urmm.... Now into the more childish films.. Pocahontas I've loved since I was a kid, and it was the first film I ever saw at the cinema. Toy Story is just awesome. Shrek 1, Shrek 2 not so much, Shrek 3 was fairly sh!te now in fairness. The Incredibles, Robots, The Simpsons Movie, FINDING NEMO. Can't think of anymore. But I know there ARE more.

There is only one film in the whole world that I still haven't decided whether I liked it or not; Tideland. I just don't know yet. xD

Tellehvishun programmes like Fringe, Reaper, Bones, Heroes, Friends, The Simpsons, The IT Crowd, Father Ted, anything Eddie Izzard, Black Books, anything Dylan Moran, The Mighty Boosh but apparently I have alot of catching up to do, Survivors, Armstrong and Miller, CSI, Criminal Minds, The Lost Room was pretty good, Room 101 - I miss that, QI, Animal Park (love it to bits lmao!), Top Gear, and ever since I saw The Gadget Show last Saturday morning (obscenely early, about 10am!), I want to watch it again so yeah I can add that to my list. Again there are more but my brain is dead so yeah...

    Speak now.

Try watching the extended version dvds of all 3 films in one go. Word of advice, dont start at 23:00. Baad idea. Return of the king is the best of the films though.
Shawshank Redemption is another good film.

I have to say, film and TV are my raisons d'etre, sad as that sounds.

    TV:
Father Ted, Top Gear, Doctor Who,The IT Crowd, Black Books, The Mighty Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Man to Man with Dean Learner, America's Next Top Model (;) ), OLD Simpsons, Futurama, The X factor and all the reality stuff, Skins, Hollyoaks, Scrubs, Friends,Band of Brothers, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I got News for You, Mock the Week, I could go on but I won't...

FAR too many to list! Classic Disney stuff, Dreamworks stuff from the late 1990s, Zoolander, Tim Burton's stuff, Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers, Iron Man, Blades of Glory, Tropic Thunder if only for Robert Downey Jr, Fight Club, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pan's Labyrinth, Dodgeball, anything with Zombies in it, The Producers, Rent, Requiem for a Dream, Die Hard, Die Hard 2, 300, V for Vendetta, Slumdog Millionaire and dozens more I can't remember right now...

All the usual comedy ones like Anchorman, Super Troopers, Semi-Pro, Superbad, Zach and Miri Make a Porno (I see it at the 'cinema' regularly, I definitely, most certainly, positively don't possess it on DVD or anything of the sort...) etc.

My favourites, the ones that I can never stop watching are... Apocalypse Now (Which is my favourite), 2001: A Space Odyssey (A close second), Top Gun, 300, Taxi Driver, First Blood... Am... There are too many to name really!

Tv... How I Met Your Mother, Top Gear, The Big Bang Theory (Yes, it's geeky, but so funny), most documentaries, etc.

    Lots of stuff really!

Never really watch films. If I was to, it'd either be animation, comedy, or animated comedy. So Billy Madison and Toy Story would be my favourites.

As for tv, I tend to by boxsets more than watch a show on tv. Likes of Scrubs, That 70s Show, South Park, King of Queens(most shows on Paramount really).

Films: Sin City, American Beauty, Pan's Labyrinth, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, The Matrix. I'm bad at thinkng of things off the cuff...I bought A Clockwork Orange last night after reading the book, I thinkI'll watch it tonight, a nice Crimbo movie :pac::cool:

TV: Never ind The Buzzcocks, Jools Holland. Again, I can't think of anything! I'll be back though....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭JC 2K3

    Let's see:
Trainspotting, Requiem for a Dream, American Beauty, City of God, Fight Club, Oldboy, Blood Diamond, The Prestige, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko, Lost in Translation, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.... probably lots more I can't think of right now, anything pretentious in a penseive way, gritty/disturbing, both, or just downright deranged I love. Generally not a fan of action movies. I love some comedies, but wouldn't rate them as great movies.

Not into anything in particular on TV. I watch the usual comedy series such as Scrubs, Family Guy, Simpsons etc. when they're on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 529 ✭✭✭rhapsody!

Oh my god I absolutely loved The Prestige!! I've only seen it once, stupid sky had it on a while back, didn't bother putting it back up again.

Just remembered I also love The Truman Show.

And I normally wouldn't been into chick flicks but I loved Coyote Ugly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭giggsy664

Fillyums: I'm not a fillyums man myself, but I just bought 007: Casino Royale and hot fuzz, and its my 3rd time watching hot fuzz, so I suppose that's mine.

Tellyishuns: Father Ted, The Simpsons, Futurama, The Angelus(the rush of achievement as you chime along to the tune is great :D), ANY BBC Quizcom; Mock the Week, QI, Have I Got News For You, Etc., And, beleive it or not, Sky News (only when there is absolutely nothing else on)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

Ii got Season 1 of Desperate Housewives for Christmas and bought Season 2 off Ebay the other day so I've been watching 2/3 episodes a day. It has me really frightened that I'll end up in a relationship like them in the future :(

Never Mind the Buzzcocks (so much love for the host)
    Black Books
    Futurama
Old episodes of The Simpsons (for the past couple of years it's been shockingly ****)
Hmm... I don't watch much TV, obviously.

    Into the Wild
    Crash
    AnchormanZoolanderBladesofGloryandallthatstuff
    HOT ROD
    Battle Royale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭SarcasticFairy

I don't actually watch all that much television, but I love Grey's Anatomy (although, much prefer the older series'...), Desperate Housewives, House, and I don't think Friends will ever get old!

    Films...
Hmmm, I can't think of anything at the mo.... My mind has gone completely blank.
But Toy Story is my favourite film ever from my childhood :D

Favourite TV shows, in no particular order:

    Friends
    Arrested Development
    Flight Of The Conchords
    Shameless
    Outrageous Fortune
    The Simpsons
    Family Guy
    Scrubs
    QI
    Never Mind The Buzzcocks
Have I Got News For You
    Mock The Week
    The West Wing
    Monty Pythons Flying Circus
    Fawlty Towers
    Father Ted
Ally McBeal (the early series' before it went completely downhill)
Desparate Housewives (I don't care if it's a wimmins show I still watch it! :P)
    Gavin And Stacey
Top Gear (despite knowing nothing about cars)
    ER

I used watch Lost but got really sick of it - I stopped watching when they killed off all the interesting characters. Also, I can't stand Jack - such a whiney bastard.
USed watch Will & Grace, but tbh it was pretty rubbish apart from Karen who was the only good thing in the show.
There are a few other shows that I've only seen a few episodes of that I'd like to get into (e.g. The Sopranos, Futurama, South Park, Skins) Might pick up one or two boxsets.

I'm not really a film person. Some of my favourite movies are:
Monty Python films (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life), Kill Bill (both volumes), Donnie Darko, the first Matrix film, The Lord of the Rings trilogy (although I don't like the books that much)
