There’s about 25 of us going for dinner and staying in the restaurant for when the band/DJ comes on. I’m old so don’t do the whole “city” thing anymore. Too much hassle trying to get home. The place we’re all going to is only 10 mins from where we all live so happy days.

I'll probably just head to the pub with some friends. On the stroke of midnight I will shout out a very obscure word prechosen from the dictionary, thereby being quite possibly the first person to say that word on Earth in that year even allowing for time differences, for example I do believe I was the first person on Earth to say catadromous (adj. migrating from fresh water to spawn in the sea, as eels of the genus Anguilla ) in the third Millenium (Jan 1st 2001).

    Is that wierd of me?

You lie, the chances of anyone picking that word and saying it before me are astronomical. I'm afraid I have probability on my side.

What exactly is your problem? Are you obsessed with me now or something? Your browsing for my posts and making witless childish remarks. You can stop doing that any time soon.

Probably the same as last year - go to local pub, then home after or someone else's house for a few drinks.

This year, New Years involves a very large party in a lovely venue, formal dresses and monkey suits everywhere, and utter relief that 2008 will finally be over.

Have yet to have a good new years.
Iv either been with family, Babysitting, working in a nightclub , or in someones house have a few verry quiet drinks.

So i really have no expectations.. this year will probably rubbish, most over hyped night of the year.

I've never been one to do much for new years. This year there is a big group of us heading down to Dingle. Have a house rented for a few days so looking forward to that one.

House party in the bro's house.. then probably a drunken row with the bro... followed by an awkwardly silent brekkie where the GF's are trying to make small talk.

We do it every year, not sure why.

Last new years I spent at home, all alone watching the film 'Fargo'. I suspect this year will be something similar. Its lonely having no friends.

Going to Tipperary to a party

Better leave soon....I heard its a long way.

Dunno what I will be doing but surely it can't be as bad as last year watching "Last Action Hero."

Watching tv as per usual, switch to BBC or Sky News at midnight to bring in the New Year.

Is RTE countdown to New Years recorded as per usual?

Heading to Kilkenny for a couple of nights with the Gf a mate and his GF. Usually a lot more of us this year, but due to circumstances only 4 of us. Will still be good fun though!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,949 ✭✭✭✭IvyTheTerrible

I'll be at a house party in France. The same last year and it was a laugh, much better than any new year I spent over here.

And they don't sing "that song" over there either! Yay!
