    Ask the Queen of England.

It tastes lovely actually. I had it abroad before. Apparently it was the chef's cygneture dish. The aromatic ugly duckling is suspiciously similar. This warrants further investigation.

It tastes like a hefty jail sentence and a nice fine ;)

Never seen swan being sold in shops, nor would I like to as it may promote poaching. I would probably try it if I was in another country.

Unfortunately my sharp wit has evaded you, and you have indeed made my comment look utterly foolish. :p

AFAIK swan is a protected species in Ireland. Australia too. England is kinda wierd though, thanks to some old law all swans are property of the monarch, so the only way to eat swan legally in England is to get invited to a royal dinner where swan happens to be served.

Is it illegal to kill a swan without some sort of a licence? Will my TV licence cover it?

If not, I'll grab one from the lake in Northwood and will report back in the morn.

A lot like baby seal. Though not as tender. Best served with corn on the cob

18 posts into a thread in AH about swans, and NO ONE has mentioned kissing a polish person to find out?

Which is good. Because they don't eat swans. Or take our jobs. Or have hotter women.

Sure they don't, I wonder where this story comes from?? Try asking a Polish person in Poland about them eating swans and observe shock horror outrage.

The swan is the big white one that breaks childrens arms. Ducks talk funny and don't wear pants for some reason. (Unless they are swimming)

Hmm hard to describe it isn't really comparable to other meats. I have heard people say it tastes swan of a kind.

If sharpshooter's challenge was still going she'd be dying in this thread.

Out of interest, is it illegal to kill a swan or eat a swan?
The loophole being that you could amputate a swan's leg and eat that, while keeping the rest of it alive.

Completely illegal. There's no season or license for killing swans. There was a furor in the hunting forum two months ago when some twat posted a photo of himself holding a swan he'd shot out of the sky. It's gone now obviously.

Well I've waded through the thread and it swan hell of a pun fest.

In answer to your post , surely a one legged swan would
keep falling to one side and be up to it's neck in it before long.

We were always told that swans were the Children of Lir...

So swan probably tastes like children

No, I mean if you find a dead swan, died from natural causes, can you eat it? Or if someone hands you a swanburger, can you eat it?

That was done already. Over-done in fact.
    Like a badly cooked swan

Swans swim most of the time anyway don't they? Theyd just veer to the left all the time. I only eat the right leg of birds.

Good one. You would have to prove it was dead...

Same for roadkill and deer. Is it legal to take home a dead deer that was killed on a road? Out of season I mean. I was told it wasn't as it would be difficult to prove you didn't kill it.

Ah , don't answer cause we'd only be going around in circles.:p
