I think they havent got a f**king clue how to run a bath let alone a country.

Endless tribunals, wastefull spending, higher taxes when we were in a recession, health service a mess, quangos.

    List is pretty much endless.

Are we talking about the job of running the country, or those little diy projects that they do at home to take their minds of the complete fucking shambles that they've made of the one they get paid for?

I can honestly say that the recession has not yet had any significant impact on my day to day life.
I'm sick and tired of the idiotic rabble I see here everyday bitching about how bad our country is and how our Government is lyk ZOMG soooo bad!!1!!1!

If you all think ye can do a better job then by all means put yourselves forward in the next election.

I voted yes because most of the problems that are facing the government at the moment are not solely there own fault. Most of the problems are global and I'm pretty happy with the steps made so far to try keep ahead of the recession.

look at the poll at the top.

85% (now) say NO 15% say yes.

I always wonder where these people are come election time. Granted Kenny is a bit of a tool and Ahern was the fools hero, but even with biffo they'd be re-elected.

I'd rather a few decent lads trying to sort out this country than sleezy corrupt liars with a hand on PR and connections where it counts (Sir Anthony are you listening? What should my opinion be today?)

2 weeks of being told what you think and FF are back in power. I'm just saying clown power decides who runs a country (not just here - everywhere)

They still could of eased the damage. And they admitted they didn't notice it until July of this year!

As well as that, after leaving the boom years, what have we got to show for it?

Anyway, it's about time we got rid of the whole complacency thing, that's something we have to deal with first, eleven years is too long to be in Government, considering the job they're doing.

Well to be fair the health service has been in trouble for years and plenty of other departments too. When things were good FF did a very good job at squandering millions. This has to be the worst government of all time at the worst possible time too, even looking at the papers today they're still f**king things up at every turn. If FF were a fire service they'd turn up months late without any water, a complete f**king shambles, they're only interest is to milk the state for perks, pensions and expenses. If they had any respect for us they should just apologise and leave office. If you think things are bad now, just wait for next month, almost one third of businesses are expected to close down.:(

And we're still paying to store these things, they should sell them off to Africa, at least they'd use them, having elections every month or so.:pac:

Oh yay, another pointless internet poll aimed at those predisposed to bitching about how useless the government is without proffering a workable solution.

The government is paid to run the country, it's running the country and if you don't like how it's running the country, go out and vote for someone else at the next election.

It was elected by majority in an open vote, you can't get much fairer than that.

I'd be all for an election in the morning. If this government were in any other country it wouldn' be safe for them to walk the streets for fear of their lives, they're an absolute disgrace the whole party of Fianna Fail and the shower that support them in government, it's the sheer arrogance of them and their inability to act and save our country.

I did vote for someone else in the last elections, as for the workable solution. I aint in govenrment so they aint gonna listen to me, it's all very well to say GTFO FF.

Wreakless spending and overspending in personal finaces of ministers is still a sore point for me, altho old news fair play to kenny for taking a cut. FF has become complaciant, Pubs & Clubs closing times being restricted to 2.30am??
FFS we need more money coming in, what was the logic behind having everyone on the streets at the same time, NOT spending thier money in clubs? More fights and a greater strain on the A&E dep and emergincy services????

The hike in VAT was also a huge mistake as we can see now that most people, myself included, went up north and saved a fortune. Everyone wants a bargain so they will travel. What FF though of upping VAT as a good idea beggers belief, it's very clear they don't know their arse from their elbow and are seemingly incapable of running anything. I honestly think anyone who supports them should seriously review their situation unless they support arrogance, corruption and mismanagement.

I was in the same boat, i did the shop up north, it wasnt anything to do with being unpatriotic. It was more a case i aint paying more for the same product.

And yea they've had the good years to do somthing in the line of ''saving for a wet day'' did they f**k they squanderd and squanderd.

The biggest waste of money was the pay deals done with the Unions and benchmarking which we pay for every year. They should have said NO and let them strike. Costs far more than a 1/2% increase in VAT.

Maybe the poll should ask instead

Are the government doing a good job

    a) Yes
    b) No
    c) No, but the opposition wouldn't do any better

There would but a lot of support for option C. Hence why FF are in power again ...

That's true but they should have kept the money in the country too and kept the country floating, retail and sales in general are on their knees now as a result and many won't survive the next few months.

    .

Ok once more, say there's 30 clubs which holds 400 people a piece so 12000 people disembark a venue, so you've 12000 people trying to get home at the same time. Thats alot on the transport system at 2.30 am Nitelinks only travel at certain time, and taxi's would be full for the majority. Tempers get flaired, more fights, more abulances more gardai, now you've 12000 people not spending any money on clubs/drink. And more of a strain on a already overstreached health service.

Cant put it in more of a lay-mans term for ya.
And yet they see this as a good idea??

well personally, I'd reduce the hours considering the problems Ireland has with Alcohol.

THIS has been tried in Britain, longer opening hours. Great success!

Yea reduce hours and prevent more people from spending??

Were is the logic in that? True as a country we have a abismal rep for drink, but i know friends of mine who go out for the sole purpose to get out of thier bracket on drink, they here the last orders shout and neck it.

The same person will cause fights and make a eejit of themselfs on the gargle.

Nope, I'm saying it has made no substantial difference. You are claiming it should be enacted. Reasons?

I Don't accept increasing binge drinking is a solution to our economic difficulties.

Thought people would have copped this over the last few years.

Spending more money is not the answer. People spent more money on houses and cars and look were we are!

There is no indication that the UK VAT cut is doing anything for their economy.

The prices in NI are going to be more favourable with the Sterling exchange and due to the fact they have subsidised distribution based on UK mainland rates.

I did actually question the VAT increase, but all it has done in the UK is get consumers spending more money they don't have which is what caused this whole problem in the first place.

@junkyard. I've asked you before....don't equate the actions of a FRACTION of public reps over 82 years of the most electorally successful political movement in western Europe with all of it's public reps, and considering you're such a "facts" based person spewing Joan Burton type shoite talking about "this govenrment [insert 10 year old figure here] blah blah", remember that there are 80,000 members of Fianna Fáil and you have absolutely NO RIGHT to tar every single one with your dark deluded view of our organisation.

    You have been reported.
