Have you ever NEARLY been killed?

A few years ago some scumbag fired a stone straight at me with a galabandy (culchie word for catapult/black widow). It whizzed past my head, pretty close to my eye. It was going so fast I could hear a little "zzzip". If it hit my eye, I definitely would have been killed. It would have gone through my eye, through the eye socket and then lodged in my brain and caused general havoc. Tis a wierd thought. Kinda makes me nervous every time I remember it.

Anyone else nearly been killed? Or savagely injured at least?

Managed to catch hair in a spinning Lathe,( guess i shouldn't have long hair at my age) don't know how i survived that, it was an incredibly fast and hard bang.
    got electric shocks twice.
Overturned a car after skidding on an oil spill, surreal experience, everything went into what appeared slow motion.

I was once starting an illegal bonfire when the tin of petrol ignited in my hand... Had it exploded I would certainly have been killed.

I slipped on the wet bathroom floor and cracked my head off of the toilet when I was about 3. But miraculously I wasn't hurt, and the toilet started to leak and had to be replaced:confused:

about four years ago, crossing the road at a roundabout near my old secondary school, forgot how roundabouts work, and didnt check one of the exits, as a lorry came around the bend. didnt see it, walked out in front of it, head a horn blare, looked, and saw the front of it bearing down on me, far too fast to stop. if i tried going forward, he'd hit me hard since i was only about a quarter across. i just jumped backwards as far as i could, and the lorry cleared me by a pretty small gap. closest ive probably come apart from a near crash when i misread traffic completely once.

I'll get over yore ma before I get over my awesome close to death experience. I think I'll have to send this question into Mythbusters. "Can a stone fired full force from a galabandy into the human eye get lodged in the brain."

Had a few close misses with cars and whatnot.

The closest I've seen was a mate of mine - We were at pretty big party, and there was a big courtyard. Someone put decks, an amp, and a few other electronic bits on the window sill above it. Anyways, we were chatting away, and decided to pop inside. One step later, all the electronics came through the window and landed exactly where my mate was standing... It left a fair aul dent in the slab it landed on - Not a hope of my friend suriviving if it landed on him.

Mad. We got sh*tfaced after that.

Nearly drowned and I hung myself but my brother saw me through the window. It was an accident. Building a tree house, didn't really work out in the end:D

as on holiday in greece at the pool (sober i might add)when my friend who could not swim decided to get in the pool to cool down and stupidly thought it was a good idea to get in the deep end. needless to say he started going under and struggling fast. jumped in to grab him and because he was in such a panic he started to pull me under. i was under the water for bout 2 mins before i managed to grab on to a lilo. everyone at the pool thought it was a mess, but it wasnt. really scared the crap outta me. funny looking back tho

Yes, sone Ejit left the safety off on his cocked FN rifle when we were on the firing range in Kilworth Co Cork .We hadnt being told to cock the wepon yet so it should have being safe. He squeezed trigger and round flew inches past me and another solidier .It was a genuine error but he got a right bollocking from officer and rest of the lads.

It wasnt my time to go . ;)

    Yes. Twice.

When I was a baby I had an illness which very nearly killed me.

When I was nine I spent a week and a half in intensive care after a road accident. Doctors say I should have been killed

I once fainted while sitting on a wall. I managed to land on my head from a 7-8ft drop onto concrete and broken glass, but survived. I reckon that if I was conscious for it, I would have tensed up and broken my neck

Walked through Rathmines late one night back in the '90s. Turned the corner and there was a group of guys standing in silence looking at me. One of them had a machine gun poking out of their coat. Kept my mouth shut and kept walking - not sure what they were up to but I was the only person in the area.

Yeah I have a few life experiences that nearly brought it to an end, but that's what makes life so much more interesting. Each experience I would classify as a life defining moment, you look at life a tad difference after being close to death.

Car crash when I was 6. Was in the backseat and there were no seatbelts.
If I wasnt sleeping across the seat I would have gone out the window. Smashed my face off one of the front seats and got a wicked battle scar for my troubles

A T.V fell on me when I was 5 crushed my entire body,I escaped unharmed

    Shot at

Almost fell of the side of a really high ledge.

Oh and not to forget I almost drank myself to death on what we call a reverse Jagerbomb, which is a Pint, yes a pint of Jager and a shot of redbull which we replaced with Mickey Finns.

    Lots of times.

Sat on top of a 3 storey apartment block during a lightning storm. At one point it was a mile away. But damn, it was the best view.

Fell headfirst off a pier that was a 20foot drop when the tied was out. Only managed to grab on to a rope 5foot from the bottom, ripping the **** out of my hands as I slid down it

Narrowly missed getting my head chopped off by a passing truck. I was wearing cycling shoes that clicked into the peddle and hadn't gotten the hang of taking them out so instead of trying to balance, i fell sidewards.

Skidded off a bike on a wet road, crossing through 2 lanes on my back before banging into a kerb. Luckily there were no cars as the road was quiet then.

Had a few fireworks explode beside me because whoever planted them put them in too deep, so instead of going up, just stayed there and went BOOM.

    Probably a lot more.

    ?

Woman pulled out in front of me on my motorbike and i smacked straight into her. Got the 3rd circle on the audi sign. Luckily went over the car rather than into it.

Was onlz told this recently. Fell off scaffolding when i was about 6, went backwards onto my head. I can remember falling, cant remember the fact that i was out for the next 8 hours. I thought id never been knocked out until my father corrected me!
