    ...do you type with?

And how accurately can you type?

I use all 5 on each hand but I make loads of mistakes, the most common being I type 'toy' instead of 'you' for some reason .
Please tell me I'm not alone..

    Sorry for the misleading title..:pac:

I never though about it, but typing this post I'm using 3 fingers on each hand. I'm super fast though, which isn't always a good thing.

All 5 on each hand, although I never really learnt the system, it evolved from the HTS (hawk-typing system) into this ;)

4 fingers left hand and 3 on the right. Quick enough but no official system.

All 5 on each hand. Why and how anyone would do otherwise I don't know

A lady came up to me and asked me for a kit-kat.

A kit kat she wanted, 4 fingers she got.

    I don't work there anymore....

    Everybody...

I dont use that many fingers probably about seven. Sometimes I'll type with one hand if I'm feeling lazy or the other hand is occupied

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

I THINK I use all five fingers... But thinking consciously about it now, I don't use either of my baby fingers ever. So that'd be four on each hand. I type mad fast (and loud) but I make so many typos my wpm is probably atrocious.

    Backspace key FTW.

My fingers are too fat for the keyboard.
You would think that the Americans would have come up with a solution to this.

I only have four fingers and a thumb, I do use all the them to type....

I use my index finger and my middle finger together. And my pinky off on it's own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Ross_Mahon

With 5 fingers on the left and 4 on the right, The left hand is situated near the 'WASD' just from playing so much FPS games with the thumb hanging down for the space bar, The right hand is on the other side for the enter and delete buttons including the other keys along with the thumb hovering over the space bar for back up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

Left hand: Index, Middle, Ring, Thumb.

    Right hand: Thumb, Middle.

I'm actually staring at my finger while typing this.

I use my thumbs for the space bar, index and middle fingers for the letters and hit backspace and shift with the finger next to my pinky. Sooo 7 fingers!

And I made more mistakes that I have in quite a while typing that while trying to look at my fingers, the screen and the TV all at once. :D

    Depends on the word ;)

Only three - both index fingers to type letters and punctuation marks, and the ring finger on my right hand to press the Shift button.

    46. I can type at 7017 WPM.*

    * But I think much slower.

How do you reach the spacebar without using your thumb?

Touch type, so all of them:)

If you can read this, you're too close!

That reminds me, me and my friend went into a shop before and the chick behind the counter, was like "Can I help ya?" to my friend, with a big thick face.

Him, thinking quick, was like, "Um, actually yeah, Um, can I have a kit kat chunky?"... She walked over to the sweet counter and pointed down at the Kit Kat Chunky's.

My friend got into a fluster, and gave a thick face back, and was like, "For fúck sake, Do you ever fúcking listen to your customers? I said I wanted a normal Kit Kat you fat bitch..."

We walked out the door then camly. I had told him the joke originally about a week beforehand, but I never thought he'd actually do it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

All of 'em, can type around 60WPM with 100% accuracy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,975 ✭✭✭nkay1985

I use four fingers on my left hand and four fingers and my thumb on my right hand. I don't understand what your left thumb should be used for? I'm pretty accurate but probably don't use the correct fingers for the correct letters. And I type the word "the" as "teh" A LOT! If I've not been typing in week or something, this amount rises.

    8 fingers for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

Does everyone one here work on computers all day??

I use two fingers, one each hand and thumb for space bar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,267 ✭✭✭Exit

I use both of my index fingers and my thumb for the space bar. Occasionally I just use my right hand, so then it would be the one index finger and thumb for space.

I don't work in computers, but I'm fast and people have actually commented on how weird it looks to be typing so fast with just one or two fingers. I rarely make errors either.

So, all in all, I'm pretty ****ing fantastic.

I'll use all 5 on my right at one stage or another and about 3 on my left for most typing. its not as if I use the ASDF JKL; position we got taught in the 4th grade. about 45wpm is when I'm being most accurate.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,125 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

All my fingers and occasionally a few toes if I need to type really fast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Donald-Duck

    All them/touch type.

Generally 110-120 WPM with almost 100% accuracy.

Edit: I never learnt the correct finger positions for typing, just picked it up from using computers for a long time. I don't even know where mine rest, just wherever I put them naturally I guess.

I touch type too, register about 76wpm and would estimate that i have about 75% accuracy.Depends on the mood really.

I was so disappointed when I opened this thread and realised it was about typing.

The title suggested it would be racey. Not so. It takes more than qwerty antics to rev my engine.:(
