Okay, just wondering what everyone in the C&H Forum's favorite song is.
Note this is no 'soundtrack to your angst' thread, any song you like, and if you like say why you like it,etc....

Also you only have one pick,i.e. no 'ohhh i love two',choose one.
Any Youtube links etc. Much appreciated :D

Mine is Voyager By Daft Punk, just love the beat+video.

I'll never be able to pick a single outstanding favourite song. Having such great taste precludes me from blinkering my musical senses :)

Gotta agree. I could never pick one song. It changes constantly.

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth is my favourite album ever. That's not going to change easily, but no one song off that album would be my favourite ever. I don't think I could pick a favourite song ever though. If pushed for an answer it'd be 2112 by Rush I guess, but that's just because that's the last time I consciously decided a song was my favourite ever and it was over 2 years ago. I've gotten into much more music since then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

I can only stand about 2 minutes of Rush before my head caves in due to your mans voice(Geddy Lee?). They're instrumentals are alright though.

If I was pushed I'd say the EP See You In Another City by Blakfish is nigh on perfect. I can't find a flaw with any track. I love it.

Not a fan of high pitched male vocals? Personally it's one of my favourite vocal styles. I love Geddy Lee, Axl Rose, Shannon Hoon etc.

Rush's instrumentals are awesome. YYZ would be a close contender with 2112. It's probably the most perfect rock instrumental ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

    easy.

Incubus - Sick Sad Little World.

if i could listen to only one song for the rest of my life... this would be it.

    Feeder - Just a day

Picked up a love for it while playing GT3 when I was younger...ahh..brings back memories :D

I don't mind high pitched male voices, it's just something about his voice that annoys me and I can't listen! Can't put my finger on it though.

GTFO. Geddy Lee is possibly the greatest frontman of all time, after Josh Homme.

My favourite song would probably be The Spirit Of The Radio by Rush:

    Simply amazing

Drowning Lessons - My Chemical Romance, my personal favourite song ever off my favourite album :)

Josh Homme is so awesome. He couldn't get any more stylish/sexy if he tried. Especially in this video

That'd be up there amongst my favourites.

Close but nowhere near as good as 2112.

I don't have a favourite of anything at all, it could change too easily.

I can't say I have a favourite song really, I keep going on and off bands all the time. Also I listen to a song I like to death and then don't like it anymore.

    Sonata Arctica - The Cage

This has been my favourite song for about 3 years now, just love it :)

This is easy. Thus far in my life there is only one song, above all, which can be called my favourite. Its epic as f*ck, and when I heard it live, it nearly made me keel over it was so good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

It's impossible to pick just one song, there are so many brilliant ones out there I love!
But this is one of my all time favourites:

From the brilliant Pisces Iscariot album.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭thusspakeblixa

Hmm... I'll pick a few. It depends on what mood I'm in :P

This is for I'm in my "I am ****ing brilliant" mood-

    This is my "wake up"

And for when I'm in a soppy "miss my gf" mood

    :pac:

Atm my favourite song is "Left to Die" by Death, from the album Leprosy -

I'll add a youtube link when I get home.

    Finished work ! Woooh !

Funny, that's where I first heard and got to love that song too!

If I had to pick two songs (I can't pick one!) to listen to forever, they would be Under Pressure by Queen/David Bowie:

And... On Every Street by Dire Straits:

Actually, I'd have to pick this too (Beast of Burden by The Stones):

But, then again, these are just some of my favourites, I just couldn't choose to be honest.

If I had to choose just one song, it'd be Better Living Through Chemistry by QOTSA. That'd be my all time favourite I'd say. But other songs/bands come close.

    Dream Theater: Honor Thy Father
    Rush: Passage to Bangkok
Porcupine Tree: Fear of a Blank Planet
    Smashing Pumpkins: Geek USA
    Alice in Chains: Angry Chair
    Pearl Jam: Given to Fly

    I like ya be'ed. You've got a good be'ed.

Like everyone's said, I don't have one fixed favourite song, but lately, it's been between What Sarah Said by Death Cab for Cutie and Hljómalind by Sigur Ros, from either Hvarf or Heim.

I love the acoustic version of that song from Agaetis Byrjun.
Have you seen the Heima DVD?

Nope, never knew there was one. Worth getting? They're definitely a band on the see-before-I-die list. The albums are so epic I can't imagine what a live show would be like.

Most definitely. You can pick it up in Tower Records for around 20 spot I think.
My Icelandic friend saw them live (lucky bugger),they're mind-bogglingly awesome live I'm told

Dancing in the Moonlight - Thin Lizzy.

    (see also, smashing pumpkins version)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

... but then make sure and see the thin lizzy version again. one of my favourites, that song, but the whole point of it is this celebration of youth, and the freedom and just the small things, it's just so happy and yay, and then billy corgan makes it sound like the worst days of his life! haha, thin lizzy version of it for me every time.
