Need Specific Advice Please!

    Hi guys,

    Okay please give me advice!

Basically I spent most of this afternoon in tears. I had gone to try and buy some new clothes to cheer myself up after having to cut my long hair to shoulder length (the only part of my appearance I had left that I liked).

As you can probably guess from the fact I'm posting here - shopping wasn't a success... I knew I'd weighed a bit of weight. I've always had a big bust even when I was quite slim (this time last year). So I'm used to being limited in my choices and having difficulties getting clothes to fit properly. But now I feel like I can't get anything that I can feel confident wearing let alone feminine or attractive.

I'm seeing my bf for the first time in months in less than two weeks. My confidence is at on all time low. I suffered from a relapse of depression in late summer until recently. I comfort ate and was inactive.

I have been making an effort since I started feeling a lil better to improve my diet and become more active. It only really hit me today though how unhappy I now am with my body.

I'm dreading now seeing my bf for the first time in months. How unrealistic is it that I can make some sigificant improvement in under 2 weeks? Obviously this will be an ongoing thing for me - working out and eating healthy eating but is it completely silly to hope I can make some improvement before I see my bf?

Any advice on what to do?

I should really say don't concentrate on two weeks from now. But I went on keto for 12 days and there was a big difference, so ya could try cutting out carbs for a while.

Maybe start running 3 or 4 times a week, do bodyweight squats, lunges and push ups at home? Run up and down your stairs for half an hour? Do jumping jacks? These are all things I do. Post up what you eat on an average day if you'd like help with that!

I will do. Tbh I eat alot of crap - But I'm definiately cutting that out now. I don't even really enjoy it. What I need to do is plan my meals in advance. I'll definiately cut out carbs because I know bread and treats is a major like chips/wedges are MAJOR culpits!

my only advice is OP is PLEASE do not do anything stupid regarding diet over the next two weeks .. defo eat lots of fruit and veg and cut out the crap (you prob know what is good and not so good already!) and that will probably help a lot with getitng rid of excess bloating / water retention etc .. eat lots of fish and lean meat etc... There is no point loosing a load of weight over two weeks unless it is mostly fat, you dont want to be dropping lean muscle so dont crash diet!! oh and get moving, do something that breaks a sweat for at least an hour every day :)

Drink plenty of water and/ or green & herbal tea throughout the day.

Eat any combination of eggs, chicken, turkey, milk, oats, fruit, all veg, brown/ basmati rice, cheese, natural yoghurt, berries, nuts, seeds and nut/ seed oils, quinoa/ couscous, avocados and nothing but those foods.

Move for 20-30 minutes every day (walking, running, cycling, go to the gym, do an aerobics class, workout to a Fitness DVD at home).

After two weeks you'll feel like a different woman, guaranteed.

I'd echo g'em's advice, start exercising and clean up your diet. You'll start to feel better because you're doing something about your health/appearance, and your bf will notice this.

    +1

You would really be amazed at the difference even walking can make if it is consistent. Getting out for an hour every day at a decent pace not only makes you feel better in yourself but at around 100 calories per mile it can add up for weight loss too. It is also something sustainable in that it costs nothing and for some people it is easier to stick to than going to the gym or whatever. i think people often underestimate the value of some good ol' NEAT (just generally moving around more as against formal exercise) particularly at the initial stages, when it comes to losing weight. Just make sure you wrap up warm :) Good luck!

I would recommend doing some exercise at the start and the end of the day and something in between if possible.

Cycle to work if you can, do some sprints, lift some weights if you can ( they won't bulk you up ) , if you have limited time in the morning then get up 15 mins earlier and do bodyweight squats, press ups, burpees, run up and down steps etc, anything at full pace.

Cut out as much carbs as you can and replace with natural healthy food as suggested above.

Try to sip water for most of the day.

Oh, and why not take a picture or two and some measurements and then you have a reference point to look back on in a few weeks ( and months as hopefully you will make this change a permanent one ).

One thing that always makes me feel better is a bit of pampering! Go get a manicure/pedicure Massage & a spray tan if the funds allow :) You'll feel like a million dollars when your BF comes home!

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll take it on board! I've done a 20 minute run (jogging on and off as I'm not fit enough yet) this morning but I'll have time to do more this evening after college.

As for the diet - I'm not gonna go on a crazy crash diet. I'm just gonna cut out all the crap and limit my drinking too of course. Lol Christmas time is a bad time to start this maybe!

Transform, why does it matter where I live? :)

I think feeling better about yourself in general is gonna be far more important than any weight you might lose, so yep, take g'em's advice - eat good food and get out working a sweat most days!

+1 on the walking - a great way to immediately feel better about everything really.
