    Hi everyone,
I've been a long time lurker here & I finally decided to join in.
I am wondering how on earth does Madonna get her body looking like it does?
Does anyone have a fitness schedule that I could use to acheive those results?
I've been going to the gym for years, & I'm fairly well toned up and have little body fat but maybe I'm just stuck in a rut but I don't know what else to do,
So please help me all you experts :)
    Thanks in advance,
    Moon Dancer

What's your routine like at the moment?

I'd say the reason Madonna looks like she does isn't solely to do with her training, she'd have to have a pretty strict diet as well.

Well I do body sculpting class two times a week for an hour each class with weights and it's tough! I do a 3rd day in the gym with weights and run for about 2k on the treadmill and then another day out running for 2k

The gym routine would look like this
    3 x 12 reps bicep curls (4kg)
    3 x 12 reps tricep kickbacks (4gk)
3 x 12 shoulder front raises (2kg) can barely lift more
    3 x 12 shoulder side raises (2kg) ^^
    3 x 15 squats (10 kg)
    2 x 15 lunges (10kg)
    20 bicycle situps
20 situps with legs bent in air (clueless to what these names are!)
Then I'd go on the machines.

I keep a good diet, I don't eat fast food, I eat lots of fruit & veg rice, pasta but probably not even close to Madonna's diet!

Madonna reportedly does up to 4 hours of exercise each day - a lot of yoga (ashtanga iirc) and some resistance training.

She's a fan of the macrobiotic way of living. Lots of veg, miso soups, soy products, more veg, some eggs, small amounts of meat and fish - but lets not forget that by and large these are all probably cooked and made by her personal chef!

Yeah I thought that myself! Lucky woman!
I am planning to start the gym everyday from after christmas, my job at the moment only allows me to train 4 times a week.
Would you be able to recommend something for me in terms of a fitness schedule? I'm planning on doing yoga & Pilates at home also, so that would be a few hours of excersise each day :) I could well be on the road to Madonna lol

Do actually want to look like Madonna? It'll take a lot more than diet and exercise to make you look like this tbh... Or is it a case that you'd like a slim, 'toned' look?

I'd love bulging muscles like hers, the picture on the right is scary! She probably has no body fat whatsoever!

That might actually be a bit much - every day - depending on what your routine is. Don't underestimate the importance of a good rest day or two during the week. maybe you just need to mix things up a bit with your routine for a couple of months and see if you notice any difference? I'm considering this myself at the moment, as they say, a change can be as good as a rest (or something like that i think! :o)

Oh god i just seen her in a magazine recently and from over exercising and dieting she looks dreadful!!!!!!!! i no that everyone needs to keep fit and a personal trainer will tell you how much you can train in a week but i honestly think shes taking it to the extreme..... i mean who honestly wants bulging veins on their arms (which i can only assume comes from to many workouts and not much food)

Rest is the most important part of exercise...once you don't do too much of it.

People have to remember that people like Madonna, Britney Spears, Posh Spice etc.. have 4-5 hours a day with a personal trainer and personal chefs who cook their personally and professionally designed diets for them.

For us normal people, we work and can get in maybe a bit of exercise before work and a workout in the evening after work. We control our food which is MUCH harder as we have to fight temptation/whats in our presses/what our workmates bring in and are offering around.

I'd love a body like Jessica Biel in Blade but... :(

Madonna looks horrendous. Emaciated and muscular - truly an awful combo.

Jessica Alba is what you should be striving for ladies :pac:

Honestly, I already have a beach body like that, I just want to take it to the extreme
I do understand not everyone likes Madonna's body, but I am asking for advise on how to acheive that so if anyone has a fitness schedule and tips for the gym it would be greatly appreciated :)

gotta remember madonna's age - as you get older the skin becomes less plump and looks paper thin when you have a very low body fat so any 'oh my god she looks terrible' is not quite fair.

There are a few ladies in westwood leopardstown in their mid forties to mid fifties that look fantastic and they are using programs a hell of a lot better than the one that has been outlined above.

    1. Your should be rotating off 2-4 different weights workouts per week
    2. There is no hamstring work in your program
    3. There is no back work in your program
    4. The core/stomach part of your program you have probably been doing for the last ages
    5. Ashtanga yoga is a core part of her program. Below is a link to a demo by her yoga teacher. I have been to a few of his workshops when he comes to ireland. And yes madonna can do much of what he is doing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUhu0_NEsFs

(no idea how you insert the vids??)

Finally, Madonna would possibly sack her trainer if he/she was not coming up with different programs/exercises to keep her interested

compelely unrelated to the topic but

i saw one woman is westwood who was about 50 ish doing proper pull ups, about 10 rep and a few sets, i was in awe, i've never known a girl who could do 1 pull up never mind that many

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,394 ✭✭✭Transform

yes there are quite a few doing proper chins - makes a show of the guys really.

Its quite likely Jan, i have seen her hit about 4reps with an added 5kg- there are some before and after photos of her up in the gym. Quite the turn around

Can you give me an example of different weights workout? I just do the same thing every time I go to the gym! I don't know what else I can do
I forgot to mention that I use the machines for hamstrings & back workout

Thanks for all the replies :D

Put the part after "=" between youtube tags:

e.g. (take out the spaces to make it work)
    [ y o u t u b e ]
    part after "="
    [ / y o u t u b e ]

    On Topic:

In my opinion Madonna does look terrible in that photo but she looks good for 50. She would put most 25 year olds to shame.

Yep, the fastest way I know is if you are on a youtube page the go to the url and left click once, now left click and hold again just after the = and drag to highlight the code, now press CTRL +C to copy, now go to your message and click the youtube link over on the upper right, beside spoiler near the smileys
This will create the tags for you
    [ YOUTUBE] [ /YOUTUBE]
And the cursor will be in the middle of the tags. Now press CTRL +V to paste the youtube code into it.

Somtimes if you go to youtube from another page there will be loads of stuff in the URL after the = sign, so just highlight and copy what you need.

Just sat down in work and tried it - excellent exercise. Imagine it would be very touch with a medicine ball.

No it's not a joke, & now I'm regretting even posting here asking for advice, it seems I've just been ridiculed & joked about for asking something. You're a moderator, I expected more from you.

Thank you to the others who answered my question :)

Its funny when guys post up photos of massive, steroid filled bodybuilders they would not get the same bashing but madonna just is a bit more of a hate figure at the moment.

I think it's more that people are fighting against the perception that Madonna has an attractive body, so when someone says they want to look like her, people take the opportunity to say "BUT SHE'S NOT HOT!!!"

In fairness, if I had a penny for everytime I heard someone say "why would anyone want to look like that/do that to themselves..." about Bodybuilders, I'd be booking a holiday in the sun.

Exactly, let people aim for whatever they want so long as that goal is reasonable and is not going to harm them in any way.

Personally, any of the ladies from oxygen mag always look stunning and in phenomal shape but others would say they look too muscly.
    Take Tosca below -
    http://www.oxygenmag.com/reno

Almost same age as madonna and a better role model IMO.

    Or Melissa http://www.oxygenmag.com/hall

Better to be aiming high than too low if your going to be putting in the effort

If you do want to gain muscle (far play for knowing what you want to achieve) then you'd be better off concentrating on the big lifts like deadlift, squats, presses, chins and rows, will give more bang for your buck and give better gains than the machines you mentioned earlier. Pity I'm not in Sligo anymore-what gym do you go to?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭lynnemc

Hey MoonDancer, would you every consider boxercise or a kickboxing class once a week with the training that you are doing ?
They are good cardio workouts and will give you more flexibility for your muscles. Punching bags with your full power will be great for your biceps.

This article might help you - it's by Madonna's personal trainer.

ALthough I would have to take issue with her advice people not to lift more than 3lbs..!

Wow that woman Tosca looks amazing in that photo. I'm trying to get fit and tone up, like many I'm sure after Christmas.

I have free weights and a bench press and punch bag in the house I live in. But I was thinking of getting one of those "Fit Balls" I'm not sure of there proper name. Anyone any advise on wheather or not it's good to train on one of them?

    Thanks.

Nope. If you're lucky enough to have a punch bag, a bench and weights at home then you've got all you need to get really strong and fit without having a shiny bouncy ball around the house.

I have to agree. Madonna I think has gone over the top and does not look the better for it. I always remember her back in her earlier years when she did look hot and ya would have crawling across broken glass to be with her but now no thank you.

How do you get a body like Madonna?

Get regular low-dose shots of Testosterone (apparently quite popular with women in the Netherlands), follow a strict macrobiotic diet, do yoga, and spend three-five hours each day doing cardio and weights seven days per week. Maintain this regime for at least six months..

    Et voila!

I did an MMA class (with a bunch of men doing take downs) a while ago & I could feel muscles I've never felt before. so maybe along with the gym I'll try to find a class near where I live.
Thanks for all the tips, I really appreciate it :)
