First real attempt, have done them here and there usually in sets of bout 10 reps.
started on 60kg worked up in sets of 10 to 90 kg, then in jumps of 10kg for one rep. maxed out at 160kg. gonna play it safe and work with lower weight for higher reps until my form feels 100%, also on a cut at the moment :(, so by the time febuary comes along i will be able to hit them hard

If you've never deadlifted before, then 160 is too high man. It might not feel like your popping cogs and springs in your back, but unless you have freakish natural strength, then you probably are. 160 is a LOT of weight.

    Thanks for the reply

i think your correct when it comes to the heavy weight, someone new to a certain lift shouldnt be going for 1 rep maxs, i will drop the weight down to the8-10 rep range and work from here,

Spend some time working on technique.
Personally, I find my lower back doesn't stay straight when I pull too heavy. When that happens, I feel stiff for a few days after, which is a drag when you need to work on abs or legs during the week.

And when you master the technique, remember to pick and choose your heavy days. In my case my back is always severely stiff after deadlifting heavy so I choose one day every three or four weeks where I go balls to the wall, the other days, moderate weight with good technique is suffucient.

Why are you deadlifting in such a high rep range?
