What's your favourite part of Christmas Dinner?

Me, I'm a stuffing fiend, I love the stuff. I'm a dedicated carnivore but ham and turkey just aren't up there (although I do have seconds :P). Roast potatoes are good, I also love my carrots & parsnips but I'll be gaining about half a stone this Christmas because of stuffing. My mum'll make an extra tray of dry stuffing and even after I've chomped down my weight in trifle, I'll still be coming back at intervals for another slab of stuffing.

we don't have turkey and ham, we have rolled and stuffed pork... Mmmmmmm.

So, pork, stuffing and roast potatoes covered in butter are the best part, everything else is just decoration.

Roast Potatoes + Gravy + Stuffing + Carrots and Parsnips. All togther on the fork at the same time.

Awesome. I'm a veggie but I can't help myself with the stuffing (meatless of course).

I'd have to say stuffing as well. It's just great. My mam also makes these potato things that are the best thing ever. It's mashed potato made with loads of milk and butter, piped into swirls, glazed with egg wash and then baked. They're crispy on the outside and mash in the middle. YUM.

I expect Flutt to come in here any minute and describe the festive log he dumps out after dinner.

Has to be the xmas dinner dump encountered around 1 hour after the huge feed.
Grab one of your many books received for Christmas, and sit back and enjoy...

I had stuffed pork for dinner last night... and for lunch just now.

I can't see why being a veggie would effect your stuffing intake!
Stuffing, turkey, ham, potato. Everything else just detracts from the taste. Stuffing on its own is good too.

Roast potatoes cooked in goose fat and homemade stuffing with lots of sausagemeat...

There's a whole pile of different types of stuffing (some have pork, for example) and a lot of people consider "stuffing" to be that bit that was cooked inside the turkey and that you get liek a spoonful of with your piece of meat.

I consider stuffing to be an essential part of the Christmas Day dinner, piled as high as any other foodstuffs on the plate.

Never liked the whole Christmas/sunday roast dinner get up so I usually just have something else. However my ma does make a rockin Christmas trifle.

Turkey is crap. It's like a bigger dryer chicken with less meaty limbs. A big roast beef/lamb all pink in the middle would be the far superior meal.

My ma's turkey's not crap! Anyway the stuffing ye all love so well wouldn't be so great without being stuffed up the turkey's ass for a while.

All the bits of the dinner need to be there to make it work, and the gravy is the glue that holds it together. MmmmmMMMmMMmmmm...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

Ok there is no 1 food. Mix that sh1t up!

Gravy, mashed spud, roast spud, turkey, ham, stuffinf, sprouts, chef ketchup ..... mash it up til you can get in all on the one fork (or into one hairy fist if you are a culchie).

The only way to improve it would be to stick it in a sandwich!

Agreed. I can only handle turkey if much gravy has been applied.

Its ok now though because I am over 14 and I now repulse him.

    It's the stuffing!

Every year mum makes loads of her homemade stuffing......I take the biggest portion.

I usually get some sort of prawn cocktail thingy as a starter....prawns, cream/tomato sauce mix and lettuce. Simple but delicious.

I also like the bit where someone passes a comment at dinner and starts the arguement which ruins christmas. No wine for me this year....:D

    Bread sauce.
We only ever have it once a year and it's yum.

    I love round two.

Also, I love the ham and white bread + butter sandwiches later that night after you're already well on your merry way.

Nice moist sprouts are terrific plus nice turkey breast with cranberry sauce, and musheroons

Fcukers make you fart like fcuk though.

I was tucking in back a while ago,and got a build up of gas in the jetpipe, and despite trying to contain the pressure ,had to remove myself and go to the downstairs latrine, which was kinda adjunct to the dining area.

Anyway dhropped the trollies and applied gentle pressure....Whoooooooooooooooshfrikken matter misted the pan and exploded over the general target area accompanied by a fcukin absolute raaaaaaasper of a fart.

Half an hour later got back to the table to the look of accusing faces:mad::mad:

Poll needs Stephen's Day cold turkey, stuffing and ham sandwiches!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,431 ✭✭✭✭Saibh

It would definitely have to be stuffing - made with breadcrumbs, fried onions & mushrooms, seasoned with salt, pepper & mixed herbs and plenty of melted butter - can't wait.

Also love roast potatoes, not too pushed on the vegetables.

Trifle (without the sherry - don't like it), mince pie

I'm cooking this year - it could turn out a total disaster :)

There's a day named after Stephen? Pffff.

I'm refering to the poll made by board folk to name the recession Stephen.

... Heinz all the way :o

Anyway, my favourite part -> the VEGETABLES. Any of them separately and all of them together. Voted for Brussel Sprouts in the poll though 'coz the humble sprout does NOT get enough respect. Nyom.

Also do like the potatoes though. A lot. An awful lot in fact. My mom makes about 2 or 3 different kinds and they're gooood.

    Stuffing is also teh sex.

Meat, meh. Couldn't give a crap about it.

Ooh, I'm all excited now. Presents? What presents? It's all about the dinner.
