Do you consider yourself part of the community? Do you just use this place to get through the day? Do you think just signing up makes you one? If not how many posts, how much of an input? Is it all take take take with you?

Personally I think you're a Boardsie if you enjoy the place. There is no level you have to reach to become part of the fabric of the place. That said you could be on here years and not consider yourself a Boardsie.

I'm here a while and wouldn't consider myself a boardsie. I visit it everyday, and spend quiet a bit of my work day on it but I wouldn't consider myself a boardsie because I contribute nothing really to it.

The real boardsies are people who you can tell who is writing it just from their style of writing. I.E Pighead, Frada, Snyper, Javaboy, Terry etc etc. They all have their little part to play in the whole grand scheme of things so I consider them to be boardsies.

I'm just an observer

I've been here a long while, but I'm more of a lurker in the high-traffic forums like AH. I've posted sporadically in CTYI, Leaving Cert, Poker and Fitness depending on what I'm up to at the time!

I guess I do consider myself a Boardsie because although most wouldn't recognise my name I'd recognise an awful lot of posters names when I'd see them, especially in AH.

Ive been a boardsie for a long time, but only really started posting in the past 1 - 2 years. I lurk around 100 times more than I post though. I also subscribe. I love the added abililty to view the secret forums not subscribers cant see

Yes, I'd consider myself a boardsie. I get a lot out of it (lulz as well as advice) and I'd like to think that I give a good bit back too (with the lulz, advice and late night bannings). For me it's about creating a community, a community that works and where, yes, there are a lot of muppets but where I mostly am surprised almost daily about the decency of other people.

I'd consider a fair few other boardsies my friends in Real LifeTM and boards is fairly important to me (in a non sad way of course! )

I prolly would consider myself a boardsie. At the risk of blowing my own horn too much I would say that I played a part in the inspiration behind one of the longest threads if not THE longest thread in Boards.ie history as well as putting in an appearance in Legends of the Boards for some off the wall if not entertaining posts.

I wouldn't say yes and I wouldn't say hell no, I'd say not really leaning more towards the no. I get tonnes of info off the site and use it for everything and would reply to help someone out with something if the same info hasn't been said already. I use it so much for help and info that I've racked up some posts and know names and am grateful for people being so helpful, but I don't take part in any of the bullsh1t or much banter. It even took the 2nd visit to this thread to reply as I didn't bother the first time.

I suppose by posting this thread in AH I am only approaching a % of people who use Boards but it might also look like its being suggested that the users of AH would be the ones to be seen as Boardsies - not the case. There are a load of posters I come across in other forums (who dont post in AH) that I'd see as Boardsies.

See I agree with that. Its just about who much you are known but by how much you know. People get involved with Sports etc by watching them and feeling involved, you dont need to put the ball in the back of the net to be part of a team.

Conversely I am sure not many people in AH would recognize your name unless they frequented the Magic and Illusion board or the sub boards you visit regularly. TBH this is the first time I have encountered you even though we have both been members since June 2005

Yes, of course I do.

Firstly, I met my gf through Boards.ie, and some very, very good friends too.

Secondly, I set up the Boards.ie Football team. I set up a team which goes out every week with the Boards.ie crest on their chests, with shouts of "Come on Boards!" ringing out on football pitches all over South Dublin. We play in sky blue and navy, just like the homepage

A boardsie, to me, is someone who identifies with, and can be identified by the community, as part and parcel of that community, whereas I am merely an observer, a commentator, a recorder of what is, a watcher if you will, or watchmaker, a butcher, a baker, a what was the question again?
