    hey,

ive been lifting seriously for about 18 months, for a long time I had more of a bodybuilding focus, until I realised i was becoming too vain:P , so for the last couple of weeks ive been doing powerlifting-style training (westside to be exact), and Im loving it so far
Im 19, and would probably compete in the 90kg class
    Best Lifts:
    squat 145kg x 3
    dead 192.5 x 2
    bench 102.5 x 1 :(
Anyway, my lifts were decnt before i started pl training, my bench isquite a bit behind, but catching up, and i am thinking about competing, so i have a couple of Q's for those in the know:

    - From what ive heard/read, the idfpa is the main org in ireland - i see they have a few comps coming up in the new year, roughly how many competitors would you see at an event, whats the atmosphere like etc?

    - are you allowed to squat with wraps?

    - does anyone know where to buy a singlet in ireland or the uk - ive found some here http://www.pullum-sports.co.uk/clothing-and-shoes/powerlifting/squat/cat_68.html, just wondering if theres any better ones out there

    thanks for reading...

At unequipped around the 50 mark from what I remember, equipped about 20 although they're usually on different days.

You can squat with wraps in the equipped division, unequipped is only a belt.

I've always ordered off liftinglarge.com they're in the US but very quick and reilable.

Hopefully Hanley will be around to answer your Q's in more detail, it's been nearly a year since I competed last so I might be missing a couple of details.

Best of luck anyway, keep training and just focus on your own lifts not what others at your weight/age are doing.

thanks for the quick and helpful reply

yeah, im not too worried about my lifts atm, ive still plenty of time ahead of me, but i think it would be a great experience for me to compete, and its good to have some sort of goal to work towards
