    Hey lads and lassies,

    I posted a while back.

At the moment I'm doing the following.

Approx 1 hour in the gym 4-5 times a week.

35 minutes on the threadmill @ approx 8.8 kmph. But I do have to take a breather and walk @ 5.6kmph for maybe 8-10 of those minutes.
10 minutes on various weight machine things usually 20 reps each and repeat.
10 minutes on the eliptical trainer thing.

Then Martial arts (Kendo) for an hour later on, usually 5 days a week. Now the kendo isn't exactly strenuous but it is something ....

    Now this webpage here http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_6_1x_Calorie_Calculator.asp

reckons I need 4566 calories a day to keep my current weight.

    (I'm 25, male, 245 lbs)

Now I know I am not eating healthy but there is absolutely no way in hell I am eating even 4000 calories a day. Not a chance. I'd be surprised if I was eating 3000.

I know its the wrong thing to do but I am eating about 3 times a day. two small snacks (fruit usually) and then usually a korean meal (I'm in Korea). Usually Kimchi Jjigae. See below.

Kimchi jjigae (IPA: [kimʨʰi ʨigɛ]) is a variety of jjigae or stew-like Korean dish made with kimchi and other ingredients such as scallions, onions, diced tofu, pork, and seafood, although pork and seafood are generally not used in the same recipe.

Maybe once a week I'll have a burger and coke (no fries) instead of the jjigae but that can hardly account for 3000 calories! And I am really exercising hard (for me)

My weight dropped 6 kg the last month and half and then suddenly it jumped 2 kg. (I was 109 last week, now I am 111)

Whats going on ?? I am really trying my best here and something like this is just is just a real kick in the nuts, especially on a Friday after a long hard week of exercising.

    Thanks.

Are you trying to maintain your weight?

The average calorie intake off the top of my head for a man is abour 2500. I think if you stay in and around there you should be fine.

If your very worried I would speak to a doctor instead of relying on an internet calcuator. :o

This concerns me a bit. Eating three times a day is very healthy however..... you should be eating a good breakfast! A bit of fruit will not sustain you for breakfast alone. Couple the fruit with a bowl of porridge or cereal. A healthy luck and dinner. Your dinner sounds very healthy. Stew is great as you don't lose any of the nutrients from pouring out water ;)

Please don't be too disheartened about putting 2kg on. When excercising you do naturally put on a little weight as you gain muscle. muscle = heavier than fat!
A more accurate way to figure out if your losing excess bosy fat is to measure yourself in inches. Take waist, hips, thigh, upper arm and ankle measurements and keep tabs on them.

have you calculated how many calories you are actually taking in? my guess isthat you are overdoing it somewhere .. Dont get me wrong, you need to eat enough to sustain gym / exercise work (and you will be more productive as a result) but 4,500Kcal per day does seem very high for maintenance.. i lost a lot of weight previously by dropping from around 4,500 per day to 3,000 and doing lots of exercise .. i know in theory 1500Kcal per day is too much to drop but i just figured i wanted fast results and i didnt go hungry on 3000kcal!

    Thanks lads,

The 4000 calories is from that website I posted and it does seem very high to me but even though, I am not taking in anywhere near that amount.

    According to this site http://www.recipezaar.com/Kimchi-Jjigae-Korean-Kimchi-Soup-324429

The stew has 186 calories ... that also sounds really low .... but still.

    I haven't calculated but I can't imagine I'm taking in more then 2000 calories a day.
