edit: To go a whole year without busting due to tilt would be fan ****ing tastic too.

reedit: I will learn how to play PLO.

    2009 Goals:

    1 - Play less poker (max 15 hours/week).

    2 - Online:

    - Play only HU SNG and Deep stack tournaments.
    - Play the 12.5k guarantee on iPoker at least twice a week.
    - Do not play any turbo SNG or fast structure tournaments (fail this even before starting 2009). :(
    - Find a poker room that offers good loyalty program so I don't need to open a new account every 3 weeks.

    3 - Live

    - Luckbox my way through a big event by winnning 20 coin-flips in a row.

4 - Improve bankroll management and stop tilting.

5 - Stop losing 80% of races in high-buy in events and continue winning 80% of races in small buy-in tournaments. :D

6 - Don't allow poker to put me in bad mood and enjoy the game :)

2008 was a bit of a disaster for me, played very little cash, no big bi live tournaments, only played a few ecoop2 cashing in 3, withdrew roll to travel, so now back to busto levels.

    2009 (dec 08)

    * Get a few decent donkaments scores in oz. Starting next monday in the $200 fo.
    * Wait until im finished travelling ( should be early/mid 09 ) and deposit 20bi for 50nl and grind it out and hopefully be back to 200nl this time next year.
    * Play the sun mill / warm up at least twice a month. Have yet to play these.

As sorta promised, here is the shiny new thread. There are possibly one or two posts I missed that I should have missed, but I think I got most of them, and since El S started the one last year, it is fitting that his is the first in post this one too.

I didn't make any goals last year but I'm going to set realistically low goals for the year.

By this time next year I want to be either

    1) Playing 100nl or above, or playing(and being properly bankrolled for) $30 sngs.

    2) Be a better poker player then I was at the start of '09

    3) Play in a 4 figure buy in live event.

    4) Play in a three figure buy in online event.

    - Get back in shape will be top of my list in non-poker aims. Start running and going to the gym again.
    - Put more effort into my diet (what I eat rather than losing weight) and health in general as Im sure this can only help my poker.
    - Qualify for some of the big Irish tourneys and travel to them.
    - Try to make 50k+ and be comfortable playing 2-4 and 3-6 online.
    - Cut down on the amount of "recreational" poker I play and focus it on it entirely as a job.

    2. To be let off with murder by a poker playing judge after I'm found guilty of fatally tripping a slowroller into oncoming traffic outside the Fitz
3 To play the Irish Open agian, only this time my QQs to hold up agianst a smaller pair to enable me to take a shot at the title as opposed to nursing my remaining chips into the money.
    4. To become a star attraction at Vegas and during breaks slip out to watch the WSOP and hopefully get into a war of words with the poker brat in the lobby.
    5. To invite a stripper up to my hotel room and whilst she is lying there I'll rob her blind and do a legger and mill out the back stairs.
    6. To release my sex tape onto the internet to ruin the thrill of the chase for those spying in my bedroom window at night ( you know who you are girls)
    7. To adopt orphaned rodents and raise them to adulthood, (out of guilt for murdering thier parents this last year)
    8. To print out red jokers 2k post and have it translated by Graham Baitson from mandarin chinese into simple English.....(so Tony Flushdraw and I can understand it)

    11. to meddle in the black arts, drink virgin blood and hopefully learn how to administer savage Hexes on people.

My main 2009 aim is this:

Win moar money than this year!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭jimbling

I had no poker ambitions for 2008, and it shows. Having a very poor year considering I won a few big MTTs early on.

I'm a worse poker player than I was this time last year. I no longer study the game. I no longer think about hands once they're complete. I have lost all discipline. I'm way way too spewy.
To think I was once playing 5/10 and 10/20 regularly on the old tribeca.... oh, how times change.

    Poker Ambitions for 2009:

    Quit MTTs*
    Re-Educate myself
Get back into the Cash game. Start on .50/1 with a BR of 5k. Work from there. Try to adhere to relatively strict BR management.
After 3/4 months get some coaching.
    Beating 1/2NL by year end.
Try not to take too many shots at 5/10 until I'm ready

    * No way I'm going to be able to quit. So, limit MTTs to the sunday warm-up and qualifiers to major live tournaments.

    Non-Poker Ambitions for 2009:
Get my company through this very rough patch and come out the other side shinning bright.
Achieve the company projections for 2009 in order to get my big fat bonus :D
    Give up smoking
Stop spending frivolously on stuff I never use.
    Shave my Head*
Get a soapy massage sandwich when I'm in Bangkok.
Make more use of my harley which has just sat out the back for an entire year.
Try not to crash my car**

    * Really want to know what I look like bald, as it's only a matter of time anyway
** twice already this year, once in my piece of crap, once in my beautiful M3 :o

    A standard olympic triathalon is

    1.5 km (0.93 mi) Swimming
    40 km (24.8 mi) Cycling
    10 km(6.2 mi) Running

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 955 ✭✭✭sickpuppy

Swim a run and a cycle Noel swim usually shortest distance
then the run and cycle is longest distance.

the desire to 'do' one afflicts certain people when they hit their 30s and realise they're O.....L....D

I would offer a pretty big price that no one from the forum completes a triathalon in the next 12 months.
Unless you a very competent swimmer it is a HUGE ask and requires a level of training and fitness that I doubt many poker players have/or would be able to achieve.
