Jerry Flannery and Denis Hurley are included in the Munster squad for the game against ASM Clermont Auvergne in Thomond Park on Saturday
Flannery's last game was against Sale Sharks in Edgeley Park while Hurley's last saw action for Munster against Ulster in the Magners League game at Ravenhill.

    Munster Squad: M Horan, J Hayes, T Buckley, D Fogarty, F Sheahan, J Flannery, M O'Driscoll, P O'Connell, D O'Callaghan, D Ryan, A Quinlan, D Wallace, J Coughlan, N Ronan, T O'Leary, P Stringer, R O'Gara, P Warwick, L Mafi, K Earls, B Murphy, K Lewis, I Dowling, D Howlett, A Horgan, D Hurley

Any thoughts/predictions about this huge game for Munster?

It goes without saying this is a must win!

Good to see Fla back, should make a decent bit of a difference for Munster. As well hopefully Warwicks fully match fit now? Nice to have him back if a change in the back is needed.

I'd start the same team as last week except Flannery at 2 and Warwick at fb with Fogarty on the bench instead of Frankie and Earls on the bench.

If Warwick is fit i'd imagine he'll be at 15 with Earls at 13, Murphy on the bench.

I think id start D. Ryan. Bringing on Quinlan would be some show of strength in depth if needed. Id nearly give Barry Murphy another lash of it aswell. The only way he's gonna find the form of '06 is game time in big games.

Replacements are there if its not going to plan.

I think that Clermont were very lucky last week. Munster at home and in a corner they will come out swinging.

Not sure giving Murphy "another lash" to find his form is the way to go.
Munster absolutely have to win this game, and Warwick is great form. I'd definitely go with him at 15 and Earls at 13.

I would have thought, Ledesma and Rougerie would be in first 15?????

Delighted to see Flannery back, huge boost. Surprised that Warwick isn't starting, but hopefully Murphy will put in a big performance. Here's hoping they can pull it off!

I would be happy with that Team. I am expecting a huge performance out of Murphy coming soon. Hopefully this weekend he'll deliver.

Agreed, Flannery is an important cog in the Munster machine. I always fancy us more with him than without. Good to see Murphy starting aswell. Thats a very strong XV, and i'm delighted Clermont are bringing an extremely strong XV aswell. It should all point towards a cracking game.

I get the feeling (maybe i'm wrong) that Munster were happy to get a losing bp last week. Just something i noticed from the players faces after the game who seemed content. The game tomorrow is a must win though, defeat would mean probable exit from the cup. I have faith in Munster to do it when its needed to be done, and i can see us winning but not without a strong fight from Clermont to see off.

Rougerie out with an injury,Ledesma used as an impact as is the norm for CA, but you'd have to admit, unlike say Castres who turned up in Dublin last weekend with a team of has-beens and never-were's, that is pretty much a CA first string.

I'm a tiny bit worried about Munsters form. They really should have won last week, tried their best to lose to the Scarlets and were awful against Ulster before the AI's.

That said Clermonts away form is awful this year.

Whats the deal with RTE not Streaming this ? Do they need to buy rights to stream matches ? I thought it was only to show them on TV ?

Red card for clermont and Yellow card for POC for a fight.

Feel its not going to be the last fight of the game

    3-3 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Fozzie Bear

    POC legend.

Munster just need to keep the head, play their normal game from here on and grind the 14 men into submission. It theirs for the taking now.

Bit of an edge to the game alright, I agree it could very well kick off again. Will be a few teeth left on the pitch after the game is over.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,193 ✭✭✭[Jackass]

I think it's a joke POC was yellow carded, didn't do anything except defend himself after 3 or 4 punches to the face. Although I think red was a bit harsh on the other lad. Should have been yellow to no.4 clermont and POC stay on the pitch.

Still think Munster will start to pull away soon enough and wont be caught.

POC back on. Crowd rallying now with him charging back on to the pitch. So annoyed the stream stopped during the fight...

Yeah Streaming sucks, reff made the right call imo.

Is it me or is the width of the pitch extremely long or are Munster not spreading out? There are huge gaps appearing in the midfield

Ref missed the knock on by Wallace from the scrum and then there's a try. Controversial...:p

so what odds on this stream stopping working when the match starts again?? didn't know they had an intensly annoying PA announcer in thomond these days. Good idea to get the crowd going...

Yeah, I'm wondering if it will stop, or if it will only be the one camera angle :P .

I thought I was the only one who'd seen that! I'm amazed that the linesman didn't pick it up, it appeared to be fairly clear on the television.

First 15 mins are key here. I'd say we'll see the extra man making a huge difference towards the end if Munster can stay in front in the opening part of the second half.

A BP win might not be out of the question depending on the first 15 mins here.

No, I disagree. White made the right decision, Cudmore was totally out of line and POC's reaction merited a yellow in my mind. The ref had to lay down the law or else thing would've gotten out of hand. I was expecting 2 sin bins but the correct call was made I think.

The extra man should be a huge advantage to Munster in the 2nd half and will probably win comfortably enough.
