You have to remember you're in Sligo-of-the-appropriate-placenames.

This is the town with - to name a few High Street (on a big hill), Clarion Road (by the Clarion Hotel), College Road (by Summerhill College) and Mental Hospital Road (yeah, I think you get the idea....).

Oh, +1 to THAT, but doesn't answer my (geographically blurred) question. Now, if it was a Dublin placename...

There's a place in Limerick called EFFIN.
And if you travel a bit , you will find a place called MUFF in Northern Ireland.

Lol can someone please move that comment to the Donegal forum?

Actually, what we really, REALLY need is a seperate thread for that particular place.

Clarion Hotel is the restoration of the mental hospital, so is that road called clarion road or mental hospital road.

Considering you'd have to be crazy to stay in the place with their prices then I'm sure either would suffice.

Thanks Pinder for automatically assumin that I'm a Brit. Can't Irish people have a dislike for places In Ireland? I live in Wexford and ya'd be hard pushed to find 1 outta every 100 down here who would ever intentianally visit Sligo. Its sligo for feck sake!

But I forgive you Pinder, its not your fault you're still a Proddie hatin fecker, it's that Sligo small town mentality where priests still have more power than the gaurds and incest is ok as long as its with your mammy.

Jesus loves ya Pinder..........you're lucky someone does!

hilarious coming from someone from wexford, probably the most backward place in the country, and believe me,everyone thinks that, ask around

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 130 ✭✭pinder

and considering sligo towns bigger than wexford town, whats this small town mentality?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37 Thor's Hammered

oooooh and pinder bites back! i didn't come in here to knock anyone or any place but sligo is a dump. and yeah wexford is kinda backwards but it says a lot that wexfordonians won't go to sligo!!!! dont take it personally, and by the way a town may grow but the mentality can still stay the same......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,137 ✭✭✭artyeva

i have nothing to say - other than I can fully attest to the fact that sligo TOWN is a dump. But sligo COUNTY is loverly.

    :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,094 ✭✭✭✭javaboy

Wexford provides the rest of the country with strawberries and potatoes. Sligo gives us Yeats. Therefore Wexford>Sligo. The weather is also considerably better.

Now get some sleep you two. Tomorrow's a school day.
