The beef contamination is supposed to be more limited though, right? Are they going to recall all the beef?

They'd better not recall all the beef too, there will be no joy left in my life  if they ban beef today I'm gonna spend this evening panic buying cigarettes, booze, crisps, petrol, smoked salmon, water, rubber johnnies, hookers and cake.

Apparently they will just withdraw the stock from the farms affected as traceability actually works for beef?

It's good to know that we can trust this government.

Better tracability on beef so won't be as bad as the pork recall hopefully

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Phwew, for a minute I thought it might come from pigs or cows in which case it may be tough getting a Pepperoni pizza. Now that I know it comes from the Pepperami monster, I feel so much better.

If I was a veggie I would be going mental at the thought of my tax money bailing out the farmers. They don't even use the products in the industry they are saving, I would hate that.

I do not like makeup on women (nor myself:P), I would be well pissed off if my tax money went to bail out some Irish company who sold contaminated lipstick.

That RTE live thing never works for me. So what was the outcome ? Is beef being recalled or not ?

No its not and their back tracking on the pork. Any pork products that can be verified to have had no contact with any other contaminated animals or with the contaminated feed can be put up for resale in the next coming days.

So thank you to the food safety authority for causing job losses and a panic scare that wasn't needed or warranted.

Nay, at worst it looks like they'll recall a very small percentage of beef. As far as I can tell.
