I maintain that Lynx are the worst offender in that respect

*looks around room, spots Lynx can*
Looks like it worked on me. :(

Do you smell like chocolate now? And do all the women in the world want to lick you and pull your arm off? Or is it that you no longer sweat and turn women off with said sweat??

I think the lynx ads are a bit more knowing though, a bit more tongue in cheek. I mean, they know that obviously, swarms of ladies aren't going to start trying to eat your arm if you use it, but the Clearasil ads are just bare faced -sorry - exploitative crap.

"HEY UGLY! Use this! This will make you sexy and cool and popular and not emotionally stunted! Yes, this!"

Even razor blade ads aren't quite as stupid any more.

    lunx ads are effective though
many a time ive walked past a group of lads only to be engulfed in a cloud of lynx fumes

    Oh Jesus, yes that's true.

Somebody start a thread about Lynx so that I, a non-teenager, can advise you against it. Nothing brings me back to secondary school PE quite like the face-melting scent of My First Deodorant (For Boys!).

It doesn't really smell like chocolate, although the shower gel does.
And no, shockingly women are not coming up wanting to lick me. The ads lied to me, damnit!

I never used the stuff too much to be honest. the pads were fun and all, but not nearly as much fun as popping one out of the park. Bonus points if the puss splashes off the mirror. Penalties if you left a big red zit-stain behind on your face. Those were the days my friends.

The one that always bothered me growing up in Ireland was ye feckers were all so into your spray deodorants. I missed the good awl stick. And I dont mean those roll-on deodorants either - they were the worst I mean. See, I didnt need to walk into class smelling like Africa, or a ****ing rainforest, or Pulse (what the hell is a pulse SUPPOSED to smell like anyway?) the whole idea was not to smell at all. christ.

Om Nom Lynx Africa is the most delicious smell on a guy ever, A&F Fierce comes a close second though!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Gauge

I used it twice last week and it took half my face off! There were STRIPS of skin peeling off my face. Almost a week later and I'm still trying to undo the damage with that E45 cream 3-5 times a day :(

Its the only Lynx scent that doesnt give me a blinding headache (That said pretty much anything does) thus it is my scent of choice.

Incidently aftershave gives me a headache :D so I cross that off too

Anything liquid from A&F is probably made from squashed puppies though.

LEMON GILETTE FOAM! it actually tastes nice

    Your poor skin :(

You should try Silcocks Base or Elave cream. Same idea only better.

I hate the smell of lynx, mainly because my brother practically baths in it, so every time I have to use the bathroom after him, I practically have to go in with an oxygen mask on :(

Cos roll ons are fer WIMMINS!

(Actually people do seem to consider them kinda feminine)

well, in an all-male catholic school, Im just saying, I dont particularly have a need to smell like a rainforest. And yeah, I mentioned this once to my stepmom and she got me a roll on, and im like WTF is this? Its hurts! Those things are not designed to accomodate arm hair. No, you need the Stick.

Not to mention my step brother's friend was absolutely tweaked after he got hospitalized for solvent abuse. the moron.

When I was about 16-17, I used to have to use things like Clearasil (never used that one in particular, usually the Clean & Clear face washes) because I had really oily skin.

I discovered the hard way at 23 that skin changes over time... after using a Boots face wash for oily skin my skin was red for 3 days because it dried my skin out so much.

I have moderate acne just on the face and the best thing for it is to get your doctor to perscribe Zineryt!! Give it around 3 days, and most of it is gone!!:) it doesnt dry your skin or anything like that. Unfortuneately if you stop using it even for only two days the damm things pop up again:mad:

♪ You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you...

And they DO! Oh! Chester Bennington! Your screaming words bleed through my soul!

or Damn she just broke up with me. I'm sure I have an album for dealing with this...

    Muppets.

As for the spots, kids: Soap, water, and a facecloth. twice daily. youre sorted.

Sudocream is the way to go IMO. I think it's about 1-2% benzoyl peroxide, and if you apply a load to the affected areas at night I find it works wonders.

    +1

    Works well!

I dunno, I have a couple of spots, nothing too serious, and I've started using it a bit. It doesn't seem to do any harm, though I have yet to see the benefits.

clearasil do a blackhead removing product thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

The blackhead remover scrub isn't too bad, but you'd want to lave it on for the shortest time possible cos it does really dry out your skin. Also a scrub like that is WAY to harsh to be ued daily, though I did for a few months when I ran ou of my normal cleanser.

There's theis fantastic stuff, I think you get it in Boots.

The brand is St. Ive's. Its like this mango/peach deep scrub cleanser. Its a sort of paste, but its got these little gritty bits in it so it really gets into the pores and scrapes of the dead skin. Fantastic stuff, a noticible dfferencei n a afew days for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

Yeah st, Ives is lovely, way more gentle compare to other products. Even the cleansing wipes are superior.

Clearasil is horrible stuff, it feels like it is taking a layer of skin off your face!!

I use a Lush cleanser called Ultra Bland which is amazing, but the best regular cleanser brand you can buy in supermarkets is Neutrogena

I used Clearasil Ultra when I was about 13. I stopped using the wipes after a while because the hydrogen peroxide started to turn the hair either side of my face white :p

    This one time:
I came home from the local tavern a little bit sh1t faced. Picked up the clear bottle of blue liquid that I believed was mouthwash and poured quite an amount of it into my mouth.

Turns out it was my sisters clearasil and f@*k me it was the worst thing I have ever tasted.

    Oh how I laughed . . . . . . and puked.
