oo I made a thread too! oops, my nerves are shot to pieces! :D
Me too, been going to the gym a few weeks now, spin class twice a day! But still probably couldn't run the length of myself! So off tomorrow to have someone make me a running plan or something!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 254 ✭✭inspector71

I haven't been as faithfull to my workout regime since the cold dark nights set in, I'm gonna have to get on the go tomorrow!
    Celebrating tonight!;)

Many congrats to the lucky ones today!!

Great to hear some good new for the boardies.

I nearly feel like calling up and saying I'm free pick me pick me! lol.

I'm actually on a probationary contract at the mo and only need to give a weeks notice up to 9th December but after that I must give a month...hmmm...quite tempting to ring them up and tell 'em!

    Perhaps a mite too cheeky.

Still relieved to hear calls are going out and also about possible February intakes.

Does anyone know what kind of things you could do at the gym to prepare for the push pull test? I'm really nervous about it, think I might be a bit of a weakling!:D
Also, when do our induction packs come in the post, and do we get the definition booklet in it or on the SRN night?
I'm chompin now to get in! Have to reign in the munchin over the Crimbo hols or someone will be rolling me in the gate on the 28th.:p

For the push pull I would say rowing machine or cross trainer are as near as you could get, it is usually only a problem for people in the 8 stone bracket
you should get your pack before the SRN the definitions will be presented to you on the SRN as far as I am aware

Must get to it then! Yikes.
Do you do the physical test when you first start in G'ville so they can see where you're at fitness wise? What if you fail either part?
Oooo i'm gettin all worried now!

you will have a go in your first week, you cant fail it then cos it aint a test they just assess your level and workout a programme for you if you need one

the biggest problem with the push pull was that it was designed for someone about 5' 10" tall. Anyone shorter would be pushing and pulling with their arms about chest height. Unfortunately this is not the best position to be pushing etc. To be fair as it is a measure of force it should really be height adjustable but it wasnt a few years ago and i doubt if it is now. in saying that I know people about 5 feet tall and no heavier than a good pillow who have got through it. It is mostly about technique. I have seen big lumps of men struggle but very very very few fail.

Dont worry about it if you can do it no problem, if you cant you will have plenty of time to beef up!

Lol, and I thought my worries would be over once I got the call...!

just concentrate on the post mortem, that'll take your mind off the push pull :D

are you sure you read that right? The SRN is always only in the evening as the other squads will be in class all day so there will be no one to show you around.
you may be getting mixed up between the SRN and the first day? the first day you have to be in GV for 9am (be there well before that though) and the SRN you just turn up with your guests that evening.

The woman on the phone said something about the 15th, but I presumed it was the night she ment!
My boss is gonna love me for this! hahaha

I'm guessing I'll wear a suit, sounds like they don't like casual clothes.
