Brilliant idea, especially having to attend a certain number of matches to qualify for All Ireland final tickets.

I can't see myself going for one this year, but I'm surprised something like this hasn't been implemented sooner.

What price is the league tickets for adults? Looks like a good deal especially for a supporter that would not be part of a club scene as they wont be forgotten come all ireland time.

You would just wonder what kind of a ticket you would get for an all ireland.

It wouldnt really interest me as il stick with the terrace for a few years more but theres a few peoplle id mention it to.

Dublin already has the Parnell Pass scheme, which is similar to this. It is good that something similar is being done in all counties. Maybe this will now replace the Parnell Pass in Dublin. I'll have to check that out.

However, for those of us that go to a lot more than just our own county's matches, this doesn't really offer anything more. (Yes Deise59, I am going to say it again, but the context makes it appropriate). I go to just about every single match in Croke Park, Hurling and Football, no matter who is playing, as well as many matches in other venues. A season ticket that would account for people like me would be good. This one and the Parnell Pass, wouldn't give me and others like me, credit for all the other matches we attend.

With this one, if you attend 60% of your team's matches and they reach the final, you'll get a ticket. If you attend all of your own county's matches and they don't reach the final, according to them, you will be entered for a draw for an All-Ireland ticket. As to how many tickets are in that draw, people in the draw and your odds of winning one, they can't say. You could still have the situation where someone who goes to considerably less matches than someone like me does, is guaranteed a ticket. The only other option is a premium ticket, which is of course a bit more expensive and harder to get. As I always say when it comes to the "Who deserves tickets for the final" debate, there is no fair system because there are far more than 83,500 people who have a genuine reason for entitlement to a ticket. Anyway, the idea of a season ticket is in itself a good one, so this is a good development.

Got 2 of these this morning. Excellent value. Although it will be interesting to see how the scanning system works at some of the smaller venues

Make sure you read the bit about your county having to make the final for you to be gauranteed a ticket.

Don't think the take-up in the red part of Munster will be too high this year :o

Got 2 myself as on the waiting list for the parnell park.

Miss the Dublin away game to Galway but should be at all the others.

Dont forget your charged for every championship match your team plays in regardless of whether you go or not!

When I was at the minor final replay in Longford this year they used tickets similar to the ones they use in Croker and simply had people with hand held barcode scanners at the gates

Definitely thinking of getting one. I won't be going to NY but I see the 75euro will get Mayo fans into the Connacht semi as well which is well worth it.

As for charging for every Championship game well I've only missed about 3 over the last 4 years so I wouldn't mind that at all

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 220 ✭✭Declan30

It is a Great Idea.As every year when countys get to the All Ireland or even some semi finals depends on which county. Some Genuine Fans never get the Ticket.

I do so a problem with it at some venues as what ever u do they will be mistakes from people given that this is a new system and all.

Price for league games all Depends on Which Divsion u are in.

Last Season in Div 3 for Limerick Price in was 12 euros.

Although in saying that i had brought the home pack tickets that they launched last year.

Excellent idea and about time it's being implemented. At last the genuine supporters will get the opportunity to follow their teams as far as possible and not get let down by following their county all year and then bein disappointed by not being able to get a ticket for a final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

The base price of €75 includes:

    *
7 Allianz GAA Football National League 2009 round matches
    *
Quarter Final of GAA Football Leinster Championship (v. Meath)

The Dublin Football Season Ticket is now Sold Out

    Went down well it seems...

But this is in addition to the €75 for the season ticket, I see this as a bit of a drawback.
This is a season ticket so you will be automatically charged in advance of every subsequent match that your county plays in the Allianz GAA National League (i.e. the League Final) and the GAA Championships whether you attend or not

Drawback? Only a draw back for people who don't go the games.

Why would you buy a season ticket if you weren't going to go to the games anyhow? There are fair weather tickets for those type of people.

    By Donnchadh Boyle

    Tuesday December 02 2008

THE GAA has launched its first season ticket that will guarantee patrons an All-Ireland final ticket in their chosen code should their county get to the showpiece September event.

However, there is sure to be a scramble for the tickets as just 250 will be issued for each code and county.

The €75 ticket guarantees access to all of the chosen counties' league matches and their championship opener.

"We very aware of the challenges around attendances and if we sit back and do nothing, attendances would inevitably decline and we're not prepared to sit down and let that happen," said GAA Ard Stiurthoir Paraic Duffy.

"We're going to be pro-active in this. We have plenty of other ideas and we intend to push and push on attendances."

The GAA defended the decision to issue only a limited number of tickets by stating this was a pilot scheme. Season tickets are on sale from gaa.ie.

    250!!!???

Glad I got in early. I bet they'll be brill seats so that GAA will be able to jack the prices up next year when there is a huge demand.

But this is in addition to the €75 for the season ticket, I see this as a bit of a drawback.

Well if you actually go to games you make a profit

    Say 6 NL games (6*12) = 72

    1 Champ game (1*15) = 15

plus a fiver off all subsequent champ games until the final

    2 Champ games (2*5) = 10

Thats about 100 euro worth of tickets for 75 euro. Even if you miss a Champ game you're still breaking even and you get guaranteed tickets for the final

    Yep you get decent seats

For Dublin fans your calculations are way out....there are bigger saving.

Sure the first league game under lights in Croker is 20 euro, the first championship game against Meath will be 20 at least for a stand ticket.

Parnell Park league games will be 15 euro.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 220 ✭✭Declan30

Dublin v meath first round match surely tickets to the stand will be 30 each.
Gaa Know this will be a sell out and wont miss the chance to make big money.
So the season ticket for the Dublin Games are good value.
Not Surprised they sold out.Given the Demand for Tickets for the Game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Royal Seahawk

The only drawback i can see is that you'll have to sit in a certain area of Croke Park for all the games you attend there, away from your friends and family if they don't have a season ticket.. Thats fine if you're from some nothing county but if you follow a county that plays in Croke Park regularly it would annoy you i'd reckon.

band wagon fans who dont even no where Parnell Pk is (as over in pub on All-Ireland semi v Mayo) will still get tickets leaving real supporters stuck.

Do you know of any sport that is any different?? And very few if any genuine fans end up ticketless, there always there if you look in the right places!!

Anyone who wants a ticket to Golf, im sure will get one and for something like a ryder cup it would be worse than any sport with all corporate heads etc.

Rugby - Believe me Thomand park will be full of bandwagoners next saturday the majority of whom were never at an AIL game in their lives.

Football - Put tickets for the biggest games in this country ie high profile qualifiers in landsdowne/croker up for sale on Ticketmaser instead of distributing them to all the clubs around the country, thats how you end up with bandwagoners at games

I suppose the GAA are worried about falling attendences due to the recession so have come up with this gimmick.Fair enough for those who would go to all the games anyway and might save a bit with the season ticket but it will be interesting to see the take up by less regular game-attendees.

Got one of these and bought one for my sister at the same time. Got an e-mail last week cause i bought hers and there was mention of being able to buy a friend tickets so that they could sit with you.. don't know any details yet but that definitely sounds promising.

    got that too:

As a dedicated supporter you will be the first to enjoy the many benefits we have planned for the GAA Season Ticket holder. These will include:

First refusal on special events and fixtures, e.g. International Rules
The right to purchase a second ticket beside you for certain reserved seating fixtures
Right to renew for any similar Season Ticket scheme in 2010

No sign of the Ticketmaster offer of last year when you could buy tickets to all the home league matches for your county.
Preferred this option, as a present, as it's a fixed amount to pay rather than money coming out of your account later on in the year.

Can someone clear up something for me please.

If I buy 2 of these for my Dad and his mate, is it a case that they will get whats standard for €75.
But then if Mayo get to the league semi and final that my credit card will be charged the stand price less 5 euro for each?

Also the same applies for the Championship? That the buyers credit card will be charged for each round including qualifiers that Mayo play in? Even if they miss one match?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

    Yes your correct.

It's also possible to change the credit card after you make the initial purchase, but you can't pick and chose which extra league (semi and final) or championship games you pay for, you pay for them all regardless of if you go or not. The ticket can be cancelled at any stage with no refund.

I'm sure everyone has gotten the email off them at this stage.
All GAA Football Season Tickets will be sent on Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th January. This means you will have your Season Ticket in time for your team's opening Allianz GAA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

That's cutting it a bit fine. Sent on Tuesday to me in Dublin with the ticket a present for my Mom in Kerry, so I have to get it and then swiftpost it to Kerry for the game on Sunday.

They've had months to post what 640 tickets per county- it's not a lot.

    Last minute merchants again.

I'll bet half them don't even make it in time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭brettmirl

Just got the email from them now...I'm not too bad, cause my first match is Feb 7th...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

I imagine it's been left until the last minute so they can just do one big print run of cards and test them together.

Very few counties have sold out completely so they are most likely waiting for last minute purchasers, no problem with that.

To be honest outside of the GAA county and club websites it's not had much advertising.
