A win, any win will do.

Thats not a bad line up but I doubt Babel will start anywhere.

    Why wouldnt Torres start?

Also dont take this the wrong way, but hoping for the Ham to get a result from a United POV.

Would love West Ham to get some sort of result from an Arsenal point of view.

    Which Setanta is it on?

I'll be home in time for the second half.

Al, can you keep me updated?

The game is enormous for LiverpooL. It is a new and perhaps greatest test of the players' determination and mentality in years and years.

They know they have the chance to be outright and clear league leaders in December and few if any Liverpool player has experienced that. They have the quality to beat West Ham regardless of the line up, especially under Zola...but whether they will remains to be seen.

It's a game where you might look back and say that was the season right there.

    Riena
    Arbeloa
    Carragher
    Agger
    Dossena
    Gerrard
    Alonso
    Kuyt
    Benayoun
    Babel
    Keane

Either that or swap Benni for Lucas, with Lucas alongside Alonso. and Gerrard in the whole.

Rera looks like he needs a rest, as does Masch.

    Very important game.
With the Arsenal game being the only really difficult game over the next few weeks, a win here could leave us in a brilliant position.

Easy three points for the pool, imo.

Hammer fan signing in here: I'm loving the 14/1 odds on 1-0 West Ham. I do believe it was 0-1 in the corresponding fixture last year (though maybe it was the reverse fixture?) with Mark Noble slotting home a penalty.

Liverpool are so hit and miss recently, with a lot of ugly ugly performances at home and in Europe. West Ham, while off form, LOVE the big games, and have registered wins over Arsenal and Manchester United in seasons when they otherwise have failed to feature as a competitive outfit.

I'm likely to dutch a few correct scores tonight but there's only value to be had in:

    West Ham win 9/1
WH to win 1-0 14/1, and
For the hell of it, 2-0, 66/1...

    Close.

    Liverpool won 4-0!;)

(You're right about the opposit fixture obviously.)

Here's the fixture stats for you.
    Head to head: (League only)

At Anfield: Liverpool 35 wins, West Ham 3 wins, 13 draws.

Last season Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield with Fernando Torres scoring his third hat-trick of the season and his second in the league.

In the last 41 league meetings home and away the Reds have lost just five.

Liverpool have kept 11 clean sheets in the last 14 League meetings on this ground.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 36 home league games against West Ham at Anfield. In that time they have won 27 and drawn 9, conceding just 15 goals.

The Reds are looking to equal their best ever run of home victories over the Hammers in the league. That record stands at eight set between 1967-1973 with the last meeting in that sequence coming on this date.

The last time Liverpool failed to beat West Ham at Anfield was in February 1999 when Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen scored in a 2-2 draw.

West Ham have won just one of the last eight league meetings between the clubs.

Either will be 3-0 to pool or 0-0

    I'd expect:

    Reina

    Arbeloa
    Carragher
    Agger
    Dossena

    Gerrard
    Alonso

    Kuyt
    Riera

    Babel
    Keane

get at least a point tonight and we've one hand on the title. 23 straight wins will then guarantee it.

Now I remember. That was the infamous 3 x 4-0 drubbings in a row... Painful. I must have blacked out the memory of it all.

Oh West Ham, the peaks and troughs you've put me through...

The jubilation of seeing James Collins put us 1-0 up against Chelsea only to lose 1-4 to the cheatyfaces.

Winning the Inter Toto Cup against Metz but failing to put away sundry low level teams in the Cups...

    The list continues.

0-0 please. In the interest of Fantasy Football.

It's true. Look at any number of Chelseas goals this season and last. Offside the most of them.

Including Judas Cole's goal last year against us...

    I'd expect:

    Reina

    Arbeloa
    Carragher
    Agger
    Dossena

    Gerrard
    Alonso

    Kuyt
    Riera

    Babel
    Keane

This i really want to see. I think its the most fluid team we can put out considering injuries. Masch is awesome for the defensive side of things, but leaving him out in favour of playing more football is what id like to see tonight when the stakes are so high. If we have the lead, maybe bring him on for Babel or keane around the 60min mark

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,594 ✭✭✭jaykay74

I'd be surprised if its anything but a routine 1-0 (late winner) for Liverpool :D

    Penno or Gerard blockbuster.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I think it'll help Liverpool that the Hammers are willing to play football, so space should be there to be exployted. Would be a good reason to play Babel.

I dont care how the team plays as long as at the end of the evening Liverpool are sitting on 36points

I think Masch also needs a kick up the arse after Wednesday night. he was bad.

very true. he needs to find his range of passing and, for the 90mins of a game, stick to it. By all means practise every minute of the day outside of this, but theres no reason to go taking on difficult passes when he's just not able for it, particulalry when he's losing posession deep in our half. He has so many plus's, just needs to manage his weakness's.

west ham on the back of two clean sheets so it might be tough to break them down and i would be wary of the pace of belamy on the break but all in all its a must win for liverpool have to set a good tempo from the off and hope the crowd drum up abit of atmosphere hopefully the "free michael shields" show of support by the players prior to kick off might get the place rocking and an early goal would be a big help il go for 2-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

    Reina
    Arb Carra Agger Dossena
    Gerrard Alonso
    Kuyt Keane Reira
    Babel
I really hope this is the team but benayoun will probably start and babel will be on the bench..
The crowd better get behind the team this time too. They were shocking at the fulham game.
This is also a great chance for dossena to show his ability for a few weeks since aureilio is injured.. i really hope he can adjust to the premiership and improve his defence!

    Come on the pool.. 3-0

Obv want a West Ham win but can't see it as they have being awful this season. They where lucky to win at Sunderland last week so no chance of getting anything in Anfield at an 8pm kick off.

I do hope they score though for fantasy footy reasons.
