    Hi all,

Just wondering what are or is the best weight loss supplement to take? Of course with a varied diet and exercise regime?

Also before i even bother to touch any of the likes, what are the cons to taking a supplement?

There is no supplement which will take the place of a good diet and proper workout routine. You need to have those spot on, or you can pop as many supps as you like, you'll see no difference.

Even the prescribed medications for obesity have a relatively small effect. An obesity drug is considered effective if you lose 10lb a year on it.

Having said that, I consider that everyone should be taking a good multi-vitamin, a fish oil supplement, some extra Vitamin C and if you are female, a good cal/mag. If you are deficient in vitamins, minerals or essential fatty acids, it could slow down fat loss and make it harder to lose.

The most common fat loss supplements are thermogenics, which work by increasing your body temperature slightly and causing you to burn more cals. Most are based on caffeine in combination with other stuff. If you have high blood pressure or are sensitive to caffeine or caffeine-like substances, you could have the jitters, insomnia, palpitations or raised blood pressure. If you are not sensitive to caffeine, you might as well get yours the fun way, and drink some strong coffee for breakfast and about an hour before your workout.
