    Yes no yes?

Effectively the same as drink driving, but not as severe. Ok, your stoned you drive you do not go from kerb to kerb, your reaction times are reduced and you are still a danger on the road. I would think that drink driving, or being extremely tired would be more dangerous. My opinion of course.

No but I know its become all too commom.

Also known as Drugged-Driving, it carries as much penalty as Drink Driving afaik. Marijuana can impair your focus and can definitely impair your reaction times and motor function. No, I don't think I would feel comfortable driving stoned.

    Have i? Yes.

but my unusual incapicity to get stoned stopped me bothering to smoke that sh!t anymore

It releases pressure in the eye
    making it easier to focus

Are there any figures available for peoples age in realtion to driving and smoking at the same time?
I'd be interested to see if when and if the figures increase and drop according to age.

I remember one night last year my friend had to drive a load of us home after getting extremely stoned down some beach. The drive up the shítty boreen was fairly frightening when I realised that I was basically unable to see anything except vague shapes and colours and maybe my pal was feeling the same way. But the driver saying "Man, I'm really, really seriously stoned. But it's okay, I'm alright if I drive really fast" was more so frightening.

Then we went to the shop and I discovered that they had brought back Wispas, which was nice.

A single post? Is the OP yet another column reporter writing a story on the drug culture of the youth of today?
    It's shocking so 'tis.

If one is sitting inside, steering a lump of metal and plastic as it hurtles down a road at 60 mph, it is wise to remain sober.

"Perhaps most importantly, officers are instructed to pay attention for "herb-like smells" during the tests."

Smell of rosemary off your man, right book him. :P

I rather drive with a stoned person than a drunk person... by a long shot.

EDIT: Me being the passanger I mean.

have seen some online on the medical bureau of road safety, they did a survey back in 2004, also some figures avail from hibernian insurance.

I can't drive, but I'd happily get behind the wheel and just go "VROOOOM VROOOOM" for a while if I was stoned, I'd say that'd be class

My friends went hot boxing a few weeks ago and decided it would be a good idea to turn off the lights driving down a foggy country road so the cops wouldn't see them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Marcus.Aurelius

If you are stopped and your pupils are dilated or there is a smell of pot from the car, you'll definitely get arrested pending a medical examination. If you're dui, its treated very severely at the court stage.

It's so selfish to think that it would be anything but stupid to attempt.

no the op is not a reporter.... how do i know ya say... i was involved in the conversation. My view point.. its like drink driving you shouldn't do it but have i done it in the past.. yes of course, not stoned outta my bin but have had a smoke and driven like i have had a drink and gotten into the car!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,349 ✭✭✭nobodythere

It's bad for society. You can't just have people driving on motorways at 4mph!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭overexcitedaj

I know it shouldnt be done but i did do it once and well i wasnt that stoned but the car was full and one of the lads put on "I am the walrus" which made me feel very odd. Then after we turned the corner we came upon a Garda checkpoint. The Garda stopped me and asked for my license and walked away to check it. Man i was freaked but it turns out he saw my second name and knew the family so he chatted to me about that for a small while. I dont know how i got away cos the car stunk of weed.:D Ah well a harsh lesson and ill never do it again.

Can you drive on the likes of smoke and spice from headshops?

well i doubt it as they have the same effect. Another question. Why are they even called headshops?

Anyone driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance is a complete tool of epic proportions.

I hope that those of you who do drive while stoned crash into a wall and do some serious damage to yourself.
