I'm probably gonna be heading to Rod Stewart (on a spare ticket), wouldn't mind heading along to Kasabian though.

Would love to see someone like Kings of Leon announced, especially when tickets for the O2 gig next month seemed to go so fast :(

Usual past it line up. Whoever does the bookings needs to rethink the 55e+ tickets.

The prodigy would be pretty cool live. Chridty Moore would be a bit of craic too.

pretty uninspiring line up tbh, although there's more to be announced.

i was hoping against hope that rage against the machine would be announced, never in a month of sundays though..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,465 ✭✭✭run_Forrest_run

OK, after listening to the latest Prodigy single I don't think I'll be going to this gig if their set list contains many tracks from the new album, they have yet to prove it that they are anything but their own tribute band at this stage, hurts me to say it...and I've seen them loads of times.

Now, where's my velvet pants for Rod!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

May go to Kasabian, but I don't know if any of my mates like them.

I went to The Marquee to see Massive Attack in July - brilliant gig!

Well they put on a good show but it seems like they've played Ireland about 10 times in the last 3 years. A bit of Justice/Modeselektor would have been a better book than a group that peaked in the 90's.

I definitely wouldn't go to see Justice fake their way through a set [allegedly;)]

    Shayne Ward also added

It would be the shizz if neil young came again.

Or maybe Aiken promotions will be able to reincarnate one or more of the following from the dead, they would make great gigs: Beatles, Led Zeppelin or the Doors.

Is this asking for too much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭Captain-America

Pearl Jam would go down a treat. There's rumours of them going around every year though.

    Or The Strokes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭Captain-America

    MGMT would be mental.

Is that official? Bit disappointed. Wanted someone bigger! Blur or someone like that would have been brilliant

Really now, is that official??? They did a big announcement for all these people who are past their prime, and with the exception of BellX1 were never good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭RebelRockChick

Yeah, they were officially announced today, along with Simple Minds, Des Bishop, Crosby Stills & Nash, John Spillane & Mick Flannery. Info on the shows here

Only ones that interest me out of the latest added are Bell X1 and Mick Flannery, but I'm already gonna be seeing both acts live soon anyway so might give the marquee a miss.

For some reason the Garth Brooks rumour will not go away

Wouldnt mind seeing Blondie though the rest is a bit of a dissapointment.. was hoping for one of the big guys that are in the Country around that time.. U2, Eagles, Take that etc...

Is that it then? Or is there more to be announced?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭DJ Hafez

I think I heard 2 more to be announced in 2 weeks. Definetley something about an announcement in 2 weeks anyway!

All fingers and toes crossed and will pray to Bono the God of rock that they can find time around croker dates to come to the true capital... pigs will be flying over the Marquee 1st though I'd imagine.

I'd settle for Take That though:D

I would go to Flannery and Spillane, but I am working in a certain place that takes place on that date!! ****e!!!

Although I won't have a bad word said about John Spillane, all the acts announced today are a serious let down.

What about Bruce Springsteen? He's in Dublin around the same time.

Very disappointing. Josh Ritter is pretty much the only act I'd bother going to see there.

What a let down. They're all fairly washed out. Heard Blondie is brutal live these days.

    Was really hoping for Blur.

Marquee, getting progressively worse, year by year.

Simple Minds play live at the Marquee Cork on Thursday the 25th of June 2009

Just when I thought it couldn't get any more disappointing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭RebelRockChick

Apparently there is one more act to be announced soon. They really do need a big name to top it off....or improve it a bit anyway :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭diego ribas

what a god awful line up. Looks like the recession is hitting the organisers pockets too. Id guess the next announcement will be for damien dempsey or the darkness:rolleyes:

except he'd struggle to sell out the opera house never mind the marquee.

This coupled with the fact hes muck means it really wouldnt bode too well for him.
