Hey, I just got some Nutrition-X Creatine monohydrate. Thing is, the only thing in it is creatine monohydrate, theres no dextrose or sugar or anything else.

From what I remember youre supposed to drink creatine with something sugary with dextrose so it gets absorbed and assimilated faster and more efficiently, so what could I drink it with? First things I thought of were Lucozade or Red Bull, or eating a banana or something like that. Anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks

My PWO shake is normally just 50 grams of whey protein in water though, theres no sugar in it.

I wouldn't take Creatine Monohydrate with grapfruit juice, or any acidic juice. The high acidity degrades the creatine into a waste product. Better to take it with lower acidity juices like apple, pinnapple or grape (not grapefruit).

    Plenty of reading here:

Creatine Ethyl Ester on the other hand is fine to take with Acidic Fruit juices because it already is highly acidic (trust me, i have pure CEE powder and you HAVE to take it with OJ or somthing similar, otherwise it's stomach churning). Monohydrate is a neutral compound so taking anything more acidic will degrade the quality of it.

Common mistake! Grape juice is recommended with creatine. Im thinking because it has more sugar per 100ml than apple etc?

But grapefruit, orange juice etc generally not the best for creatine.

Then just add some in... You get glucose (dextrose) in the babyfood section in supermarkets or sugar or baking section, ~€1 for 500g..

My PWO eats are strawberry nesquik with milk & whey & ice cubes liquidised up to make a nice frothy shake, and sweet cakes or oven chips for carbs (I know I should really avoid fat at that time).

Thats what I heard, it is around 15-16% sugar compared to 10-11% for most other juices. I love pineapple juice in whey shakes.
