According to Dave Meltzer on Sunday night's Wrestling Observer radio show, Shawn Michaels has pitched to wrestle Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 in Houston, Texas.

Steve Austin's one-time return to the ring has also been rumored with his most likely opponents either being John Cena or Randy Orton. [

You dont need spoiler tags if you already labelled the thread as spoilers. Anyway plans change a million times so they wouldnt be spoilers yet anyway. The Rock recently made it crystal clear to close friends that he is never going back to wrestling hence the long rumoured match with Austin is off. Austin DOES want to put someone over on his way out.

HBK/Taker should be good. But I', saying that based on the matches they had yonks ago

Heres hoping for Orton V Austin :D:D

Would love to see that build up :)

It would amaze me to think that HBK only recently pitched for this match to happen. I would have thought it a lock a long time ago. Hopefully it does go ahead, as it's the best interpromotional bout they've got going, and has the added intrigue of Michaels appearing more likely to beat taker than anyone else.

I'd like to see Austin/Cena if Austin was up for it, it's the biggest match they could possibly do. Though fan resentment might swing back against cena if he went over.

As also the whole Texan v Texan in... texas. :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. What would be the outcome if Austin was to go over against Cena ? Maybe Austin could play heel ? Although I've no idea how that could be achieved. Babyface v babyface main events are few and far between *.

    *could be wrong*

Meh, poor idea in my opinion. At least for Wrestlemania. Despite the 'Mr Wrestlemania' label, HBK's Mania record is quite poor. Does anyone seriously think Michaels would go over in that match? What would be the point?

Unless Austin/Cena is a genuine possibility, I'd much rather see Cena/Undertaker. To be honest if they had a bit of foresight they would have been smart and kept Cena's undefeated streak at Mania alive instead of jobbing him out this year. Then you would have had an abolutely epic match involving Taker trying to preserve his long streak as well as Cena going for six in a row at Mania and a 'passing of the torch' from Taker.

Imagine the frenzy this match would have created. All the Cena-hating fans would piss their pants at the thought of him ending the streak. It could still be done of course and I'd like to see it for the crowd reaction alone but as I say I think it could have been truly epic had they built towards it.

I'd be happy as long as they keep SuperHunter out of the title picture but I won't hold my breath.

Miz and Morrison, Hardys and edge and Christian TLC main event

I'd be worried about Cena/Austin. I know what they'd be trying to do, build it up as Cena goading Austin into a match in his determination to get the respect of the entire WWE audience. But I don't think a win over Austin would do him any favours with the audience. I'd much prefer Austin/Orton.

As far as HBK/Undertaker, it sounds alright. I'd be hoping that HBK would get the win though.

They had a great chance to set up Cena v Batista at SS, but didn't. I'd still like to see this with a heel Batista.

Orton v Austin would be very very interesting.

Anything involving Taker at WM is only going to end in a Taker win, so couldn't care less.

I would love to see Jeff Hardy and Edge building a feud for WM for the title. They have the guy getting the loudest pops vs the guy (with Vickie) getting the greatest heat. 5 months of screwing with Jeff culminating in him beating Edge to finally win the WWE title. However, I'm not sure that WWE's top brass trust Hardy to stay out of trouble for 5 months. :(

Would have thought that HHH v. Edge and Cena v. Batista (heel) were pretty much a lock for Mania. So that leaves HBK v Taker, Orton is free to face Austin if he does indeed wrestle on the show. I would hope that this year they would build the undercard stronger besides just throwing the Hardys, Jericho, Punk, Rey etc. into MITB.

The only match for WM 25 i'd really like to see is The Rock V John Cena but i doubt it would happen :(

It won't as it wouldn't draw peanuts!
HBK v Taker wouldn't be a bad idea actually, HBK sent Flair packing in terms at this years Mania, so for him to send Taker packing next year would be the icing on the cake. :)

If the Rock returned to fight some waster like Kozlov at Armegeddon it would probably draw more than any of the PPV's this year bar Mania

I'm going out an limb and am going to say that anything with rock or ausitn is going to draw more than all the ppv's this year......but it isn't going to happen rock has left wrestling far behind is concentrating on his movie career.

Your just looking for a reaction right?

I'd like to see takers streak possiby end but only if done in the right way. It would have to be an epic moment with twists and turns etc. I wouldn't trust WWE to pull it off correctly.

    forbesii wrote: »

Why would i bother? There are way better matches that could be put on for a Mania main event that would draw better than a ring rusted Rock and an overexposed Cena.

This statement still doesnt explain how it would draw peanuts in your opinion.

Wouldnt the Rock's freshness and Cena's improved ring skill cancel your two complaints out anyway?

Rock's freshness didn't save him at Mania 20. And i haven't seen Cena's ring work in months.

    Are your serious?

I think The Rock even being there would be a huge draw

Wrestlemania 20 did very well and The Rock was part of it eventhough he was late edition to the card.

    Yet called him overexposed.

Cena has been a great big match worker for some time now.

Delighted for you. I'll pass on the national association for the deaf your telephone number then.

Nail on the head, Rock had bugger all to do with it, in fact that match was terrible, Steve Austin had no problem telling either of them afterwards.

You do know what overexposed means right? Hulk Hogan wasn't that much of a big match worker, but that didn't stop him from being overexposed. Bret Hart was an excellent big match worker, but he was still overexposed.

I'd like to see John Morrison V HBK.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 937 ✭✭✭michael.etc...

^^^ I'd like to see that too, though not at this stage, and not at this Mania.

I also tend to disagree that Rock/Cena wouldn't draw. It would draw bucketloads.
Looking back over what people have been saying, i also would love to see Austin take on Orton, it's a more interesting match in my book than Cena/Austin. But if Austin was willing to work, i still think they would rather put Cena in that position.

I dont think Cena could get a rub from beating Austin, I think it would do him more harm than good

I'd agree here, Austin is done as a full time worker, and Cena's as mega over as they are, so nobody would benefit from that match, period.

    Except everyone finanacially.

So Austin and Rock arent draws let me write this down.

Cena is mega over with the young generation, if he beat Austin in his last match the older generation would hate him even more (if thats possible)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 937 ✭✭✭michael.etc...

^^^ i agree that Cena wouldn't "benefit" as such, but i would still imagine the WWE would book the match, before Orton/Austin. And i do think it would likely draw more.

Would it turn them off watching though or make them stick around desperate to watch Cena lose?

Im not saying it would harm the buyrate, im saying it wouldnt do anything for Cena career wise and it should be a match that gets someone over if at all possible

Coming from someone who justifies Crippletakers every move, claiming "awesomeness", i'll take that comment with a bucket of salt. :)

But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night forbesii, you've had it in for me for a while on this forum, so if you want to see it as a little victory for yourself, by all means. ;)
