Doesn't have to be in the main forum does it? All the best posts are in the Theory forum anyway. Not because the "advice" generally dished out in there is any good, most of it is laughably awful and anybody seriously wanting to improve their game would best stick to 2+2, but because the threads are not really about advising peoplehow to play better, they're really a bunch of overwatered egos battling for supremacy and trying to get the world to accept that they're much better players than guys who have achieved something more meaningul than a 5000 theory post count.

i don't really feel qualified to comment on most of the categories given that i don't actually spend that much time online these days, and i'm not even that familiar with the irish poker scene in general now that i am playing abroad so often. anyway these are my thoughts on a few of the categories:

Online Poker Room of the Year : obviously i'm going to say boyles, but seriously, i think they deserve a bit of recognition for the money and work that they put into the IPO, given the budget that they have to work with. if not boyles then pokerstars, as out of the "big sites" their customer service is well ahead of the others.

player of the year: at the time of writing it looks like i'm going to have my first losing year online, and while i'm very flattered to be nominated in this category, i feel john o'shea might be a better shout for best all-round player as he's had a good year offline with his wsop final, as well as doing really well online. having said that, if i don't get awarded offline player of the year after the run i've had this year, then i never will.

online player of the year: there aren't many irish poker players (if any) that have made more money online than tom hanlon since the invention of internet poker, and while some players will have more spectacular wins (and losses), tom seems to have had his usual standard year of making consistently good money every month on the 10-20 and 25-50 PLO tables without anyone noticing too much. i don't imagine he'll get the award, but some would argue that he should win it every year.
PS> he also has a decent enough record offline this year, considering he only plays 2 or 3 live tournaments a year.

Coming from Fermanagh, I (obviously) found this blog post quite offensive and would be disappointed to see it win recognition of any kind.
