    Hi Damo

I know you are probably looking for some independent opinions, but I thought I'd shoot you a quick note anyway. There are no hidden costs associated with using Teamer. For organisers who set up a team, all texts and emails that leave the system are free and there is no subscription. Players who want to reply to event notifications by sms only pay standard text messaging rates, as if they were texting a friend, no additional costs. We are keeping it free by having it sponsor funded. This means that notifications may be appended with a short sponsors message 'your game notification brought to you by xxxxxx' that sort of thing. Please know that we'll never give your info to a third party or sponsor. So if you sign up you won't start getting random emails or texts from other companies because we've shared your data.
I hope this info helps and you give the service a try.

    Thanks

Yeah. There are many competitors in this marketplace. One is sportadministrators.com - they have a system called club2web on the market for over a year.
They are a subscription based model and do all the SMS, email stuff that teamer does. But you can also download a mobile application for free and manage your team for free with it. You don't need to be sitting in front of a computer which is useful as most team members are always on the move anyhow. You can also advertise your club for free in their mobile directory. The free model is nice but you'll end up paying through the nose for SMS.

We use Teamer for our football club - its been a great addition to the management teams toolkit. Its constantly being developed and improved and new features added. We use it for training, meetings, matches and even drinking sessions. The only cost is to reply by sms which is a couple of cent and you can also set status online via website too.

How do you get rid of the request to reply and the Ad for Setanta before you send a message?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,604 ✭✭✭LizardKing

the resuest to reply is built in to the teamer system .. replying means the participant is available or not for the particular event. no reply means their status remains unknown. The ads at the end of the messages pay for the free messages i presume ... its not rocket science :-)

    Hi Wayne,

Teamer can be used by anyone organising a group of people and is not just for football teams. We would have a range of groups who use Teamer as a way to manage their athletics clubs, poker tournaments and other groups.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi guys,
    Just to say,
I've been using teamer now for the past 2 (possibly three years) and never once has it failed me. An excellent service.
I us it for a tag rugby teams and an eleven a side soccer team to organise training, matches, and pints!
I've had great support from the support desk there any time I had a query, something didnt work the way I expected it to work.
It's made my and indeed my fellow organisers lives, a lot more straightforward when it comes to managing these teams.

To be honest the concept has uses outside of sport - for members of a group of anything who meet on an irregular or regular basis for example.
There are no hidden costs. The guys replying via text will have a standard text fee if they dont have a text bundle. There is a bit of advertising which is to be expected.

They've a facebook page which has competitions on it now and again as well.

Anyone from teamer reading this, thanks.

    Hi kippy,

Really glad to hear that Teamer is working for you, it's always great to hear from members who are making use of the site.

    Thanks,

Just came across this, sounds great. Can somebody just confirm, if I send invites to say 30 people about a game, can each person log in to see who else is coming rather than me having to communicate with everyone? For example, with a casual game, some people might only like to come if there's over a certain amount of players, if they can log in and see there's enough players, then they can commit to going. Is this possible?

    Hi cormie,

That's right, Teamer allows you and your team mates to view attendance so you can track who is available and coming to games.

Once a notification of a match is sent, players can replay directly via SMS or, if they would like to see who else is coming along, log into the site and check first before updating whether they are coming.

    Cheers,

    Robert @ Teamer

    Thanks for the reply :)

Set up an account anyway :)

Just a suggestion, I set the account up and added people at 8 o clock in the morning. If I knew it was going to text everyone at this time, I would have waited. I think it should warn you that it will be sending a text to everyone and what the content of the text will be too, the one everyone got wouldn't have made much sense, mostly because we don't have a "Team Name" and I just called the team name "Basketball" so it may have confused a few people.

If your mobile has a browser, I believe you can access the site using it.........
If your mobile is an Iphone I think there is a new app now available for it although it may be a paid app.
If your mobile is neither of the above you wont be able to do much on it anyway......

I've never gotten anything I would consider Spam from the service, in fact I have rarely gotten an email outside of a notification about an event.

Do any of you find that the 160 character limit stops you giving detail about venue, time of finish of game or training, opposition team, etc.

Not on teamer anyway, usually plenty space......as the text is "generated" more than directly entered.

Hi folks, have done everything as I usually would this week on the new system but haven't got a text yet and neither has another team member so I'm not sure how many people have been notified. Not much of a response compared to usual, not sure what's happened?

By any chance do you and the other team member have iPhones? Do you have the teamer app installed?

Strange. Do you send the email notification as well? Did you get that? It should show up on your event page whether the text was actually sent. Has it come out of your "texts remaining" bundle? You could try resending the text from the notifications page.

Didn't seem to come out of the remaining texts, resent a few and they did and I think the recipients got them this time. Not sure what happened the first time, will check again next week, but I just did like I did last week and every other week as far as I know.

    Just a feature request please.

I manage a group of 93 players for a weekly pick up game using teamer and facebook. Teamer takes quite a while to post the notifications from and it's mainly down to having to select each player individually from the list of 93. The thing is, there's a main group of regulars out of the 93 people who will come more frequently than others and who you can pretty much rely on to get a game going, the others have all expressed interest but haven't really shown up but I wouldn't like to remove them as if were stuck for numbers, we ask more from the list.

It just takes ages having to pick out the 30 regular players each week to notify as I don' want to be using up all the texts by selecting all 93 players.

Would it be possible so to have a "regular" list who you can just "select" all and notify within a matter of seconds? Would make organising a lot easier!

Hi, I am managing a football team and decided teamer would be a great way of notifying players of training, matches etc. I have been encountering some issues though. Some players have reported not receiving any txt messages and only getting emails. Is there something i can do to sort this or has anyone else had similar issues?

If a player has both an email address and phone number listed, the default is they will only get the email to save the number of texts sent, you can manually select the SMS box beside their name so they get the SMS too.
