Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I'm sitting here with a bit of a rough head on me from last night. At work, browsing boards and I'm struck by the thought. Will I be in this same office in 5 years time arguing about the important topics of the day on Boards.ie or will my life have taken me somewhere else in the world (where I will no doubt still argue on Boards).

Well where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Personally I think I'll still be in Dublin but hopefully working for myself at that stage.

And how do you propose to get this part in futurama?

Well I'll hopefully have a degree in Computer Science. IF all goes to plan, then I might be travelling around the world in this time 5 years after taking a job for a year or so to get a bit of experience.

I hope to be nailing Whomprats from my T-16 and slashing evil dooers with my lightsaber.
That or back in Ireland studying something interesting.
That or making mega bucks after having invented something that makes me mega bucks.
That or living in some dystopian future where I will hopefully be a member of the party and not playing the part of Winston Smith.

    Or all of the above.

Yeah, although you've mentioned it now so you've really put alot of pressure on him. I hope for your sake it lives up to all this hype you've been giving it!

Whenever interviewers ask this question I think candidates should have the right to enter a trance like state and channel the spirits.

Look Hoss. The social features were all new and exciting. We were all a little overwhelmed with the Bebotastic brilliance of all the new social networky things like profile messages and friends and social groups. Some people got caught up in the excitment of it all. Free love and all that.

So when I accepted your friend invitation I wasn't really myself. I would have accepted any friend invitation at the time. You know what I mean? Look I'm not saying that I necessarily don't want to be your internet best friend, but maybe you should ya know.... back off a little? Stop boiling my bunny if ya get me. We should maybe see other people? :o It's not you. It's me.

Probably with a Ph.d but still backing out excellent well formed sturdy logs into well bleached toilet pans in well heated and well perfumed public establishments.

Lying in the gutter soaked in skutther is the alternative.

I will probably be working for the same company, hopefuly a step or two higher up the ladder.
I'll be married, will hopefully be back living in Dublin 9, or there abouts, and I might even have a baba on the way by then.

Stupid question making me think about the future!

I have a great job now so hopefully doing the same thing, although the thought of being in the same place in 5 years scares me a little.

Sitting in my crappy rented flat looking back at the last 5 eventless years, fully acknowleding the fact that the universe is detrministic and that none of my choices or actions could have occurred otherwise. Getting depressed about this fact and then thinking for the rest of the evening "fu*k it, im going to change my life...i'm going to do this, that and the other" and then waking up the next morning after having forgot my epiphany from the night before and continuing along my pointless life, never to achieve anything.

    :pac:

Way better than the DysonAirBenz in my (future) opinion.

Dyson flying cars never took off ;). Otherwise he wouldn't be bothered going on the radio from the future prattling on about vacuum cleaners and how much we'd all have saved if we'd bought a Dyson in 2008 instead of a normal bagged cleaner.

Hopefully if all goes well i will be a Journalist/Author visiting many parts of the world, seeing wondeful things and wil have wirtten a couple of Novels. If not that then proberly working at McDonalds as a 4 Lifer and eventually become the old bitter guy behind the counter who works on chips and give the young lads with high ambitions a check on reality and tell them that life is s**t and half of them will fail at life and become like me. You may think i'm destroying their hopes and dreams but in actual fact i will be saving them from a lifetime of misery because they won't want to be like me and will be more determined to work harder and become sucessful.......... But me, i will watch the days go by as i get older constantly watching the younger generation surpass their elders, sitting at a duck pond and throwing bits of bread even though there haven't been any ducks at the pond for 10 years

Either finishing up my medicine degree, or finishing up my clinical pyschology phD. And hopefully settling down. When I was a kid, I always thought I'd get married at 26. That seems incredibly close now though!

Optimistic - In the first year post qualification as a solicitor, living in Dublin, with a long term boyfriend, still in touch with my college friends.

Pessimistic (Realistic) - Still trying to find an apprenticeship, living in with my parents, working as a secretary, while all my friends live it up as hotshot accountants in Dublin, single and looking older...

Its not a good time for me to be answering this question... damn work shortage...:(
