Just went over to see how everyone's favourite comedian Len Collin was doing when I saw that on the river with the board reading 3 8 8 5 5. There was a bet of 2k into a 2k pot when Len reraised to 4.5. The man tanked for a couple of minutes and called. He showed aq for ace high and len tapped the table to tell him it was good. what a call!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 86 ✭✭IPTLimerick

Len, left short stacked after the last hand, makes a raise with AQ and gets two callers. Ace high flop follows, Len bets out the pot, gets a flat call from the button. The turn brings a blank and Len ships it in, and gets an instant call from the button who turns over a flopped set of 8s and it's bye bye Len!

Lorraine Lee takes the first scalp of the tournament, flat calling a button raise from the BB with A10. The flop comes A 10 5 with 2 clubs and it's checked all round. Lorraine bets out the turn and gets a caller from the SB. The river brings a blank and the small blind puts in all his chips, Lorraine thinks briefly before making the call. Small Blind has a busted flush draw and Lorraine is now sitting on a nice stack of about 20k, double the starting stack.

The third player to leave the tournament is a Michael Folan, who makes a questionable all-in move with bottom pair on a 10 3 7 board. He gets called from the bottom who has J 10. The turn is a J which gives Folan a lower two-pair and the river misses the two outs left for him in the deck and he leaves the tournament.

Table 2 has also seen quads for Martin Monaghan. After makin a mid position raise to 325 at the 25-50 level he gets two callers the flop is 5 2 5. It's checked all round and Martin makes what looks like a continuation bet on the turn. The other players obviously think so too as they both make the call. The river is a K which puts an end to the action, as Martin makes a bet of 1100, both the other players fold instantly and Martin ruefully turns over pocket 5s.

Keith McInerney calls an all in on a flop of J 6 10! Keith shows 66 for a flopped set but he is up against 9q for open ended straight draw. Turn is an 9 but the river is the 8. The straight takes a pot of 12k!

Table two is definitely the action table! Derek Murray is the third player to get knocked out from table two, and what a hand! He makes a mid position raise to 425 with the blinds at 75-150. Dave Curtis reraises to 1400 and Derek makes the call. The flop comes 10s Jc As and all the chips go in the middle. Derek turns over K Q for the nuts and Dave turns over pocket Aces having flopped top set. The turn brings a blank but the river is the last Ace in the deck giving Dave quads and Derek's tournament is over on the third level. Let's hope he has his laptop with him!!

We lost galway legend John Ward. Two big hands took him out. First hand he bluffed off his stack and when he got raised he had to call drawing only to a flush draw on the turn. He missed. Next hand he has a5 and limps. Flop comes a 2 7. Turn 5 and all the money goes in. John has two pair but is up against a set of twos! Game Over!!!! 43 players left

Mark Spellman is out in a battle of the blinds. The flop is queen high and Mark, shortstacked pushes from the SB. The BB makes the call and shows Q 7 for top two pair. Mark turns over Q 8 and neither the turn nor river bring any help and he's out.

In another battle of the blinds, Martin Mellor gets a great double up. The flop comes 3 2 6 and its checked round to the button who bets out 625. Martin calls on the SB as does Thomas Nolan on the BB. The turn is a Q, Thomas bets out 1200 when Martin checks and the button wisely gets out of the way. Martin calls, which leaves him with only 1550 behind. The turn is a J, Martin checks again and Thomas puts him all in. Martin thinks long and hard, while everyone else is thinking surely he's pot committed to call. However, when he makes the call and turns over 6 5, it's clear why! Thomas shows 3 4 for a lower pair and a busted gutshot draw, and Mellor takes down the pot.

Christy talkin it up again. With 3 limpers Christy pushes it all in for 8,300 and says "I can only get it in with the nuts" " I have two black aces" Keith Cunningham folds with two red twos and says im probably ahead. Christy flips over the two black aces but only took a pot of 600.

Kenneth O Flaherty moves all in preflop with AQ only to be called by John Holihan's QQ which holds up.

I had him layed at 225-1, but there were no takers for James Walsh to win this tournament. However he just picked up a massive pot. On a Ad Js 6d flop James got all is money in with qj of diamonds. THe 4 of diamonds gave him the flush and 22k in chips.

Paul Carr is your current chip leader with 38k

Dave Curtis is back down to starting stack after getting entangled in a pot on an A high board. He had A 10 but he's out-kicked by Shane Walsh holding Big Slick and Dave loses half his stack.

Double up for christy morkan. He "gets sick of the big stack raising" and calls a raise of 2.6k from the small blind. Big blind also calls and makes a 5k bet on the J 8 7 flop. Original raiser Paul Carr ships all in and christy calls. BB wisely gets out of the way (later showing Kojak) and christy shows 10 9o for the nuts while Paul turns over pocket 7s for a flopped set. The turn and river fail to pair the board and Morkan is back in the game!
