    What about installing these in place of all the domestic pendants, job done, no need for all the fuss. AFAIK the rcd protection required for lights from September on will have more to do with the height at which lights are placed than location in the house.

    All a light fitting like this will do is reduce the risk of shock to a person when they are changing the lamp, it will not allow new regulations to be relaxed.
