Oh yes, salivation of the mouth is in order!

Stallone writes and directs a movie about a team of mercenaries headed to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator.

    Cast thus far?

    Sly Stallone
    Jason Statham
    Jet Li

    Nice!

Another completely over the top, pointless action film, filled with dialogue that makes no sense and explotions, for no apparent reason, in every scene, just like Rambo

    I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

I hope they show that Chávez a thing or two... teach him to play ball with Washington.

There's talk of Forrest Whitaker joining them as well. That would be some cast.

Not sure whether to get excited about this or not...

Statham has made some excellent action films, Jet Li too, but when they two of them get together (War & The One) it's been awful, kinda like too much of a good thing perhaps. Add Rambo into the mix, and it could be absolutely brilliant, or incredibly dire.

    I just came a little.

full spooge when cast is fully complete I imagine.

2009 is shaping up to be quite a year for cinema. Watchmen and Star Trek being the big two but I have a sneaking suspicion that this could be the years real treat.

Statham, Li and Stallone are 3 of my favourite actors around as not only can they kick ass convincingly they can also act which is a rare combination. For sheer boyhood wish fulfillment, the addition of Van Damme and Lundgren to the cast would ensure epicness on previously unforseen levels.

It sounds like they asked 100 people to give their ideal cast for an action film.

    Cannot wait.

Les Dennis: we asked a poll of a hundred people...... Who should star in the new Stalone movie??

I am starting to believe they did this and took the top 5 answers.

    Dolph Expendable?

According to awesome DOLPH LUNDGREN fansite DOLPH ULTIMATE, SYLVESTER STALLONE recently signed on his ROCKY
IV co star to his upcoming "who's who" action flick THE EXPENDABLES. The movie already had JASON STATHAM and JET LI tagged to it and the addition of LUNDGREN to the macho fold should make action fiends happier than pig in ****. I know I am. Just get Van Damme in there too and consider me a fulfilled human being!

THE EXPENDABLES tells the touching tale of a team of mercenaries sent on a suicide mission to whack out a South American dictator. The film is written, will be directed by and will star SLY STALLONE and is slated to start shooting in February of 2009 in Costa Rica and Louisiana. This sucka is shaping up to be great times! I wonder if the violence will be on the ultra side a la RAMBO? Time will tell...

Darko, do you have this weekend's Lotto numbers handy? :D

We just need The Muscles from Brussel onboard now and we have ourselves a potentially awesome action epic in the making!

Stallone is one of the most underrated actors in history, FACT!

But regarding JCVD, i've been meaning to see it for a while, Van Damme is actually gaining a lot of critical acclaim for once in his life.

Doesn't look very South American does he?

There's gotta be a role for Luis Guzman in there too.

Hmmm, has to be an evil South American Dictator tho

Do you reckon Al could do a turn as a slimey, hispanic type?

Del Toro would be good - he'd chew up the scenery.

Well, it seems Dolph Lundgren is now confirmed as he's in the cast list. :D

Also, the fifth and last mercenary will be none other than UFC legend Randy Couture! :D:D Now, I doubt this would really please non UFC fans and he's hardly on par with the legend cast as is, but it just confirms the type of movie Stallone is going for.... that being, the greatest movie ever made!!!

    Also, read on....

    http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/12/13/ufcs-randy-couture-also-joins-stallones-the-expendables/
The cast for Sylvester Stallone's next big action project, titled The Expendables, already features Stallone himself, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren, but the script calls for a total of five mercenaries, so who is this fifth? None other than UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, as Ain't It Cool News reports today. Apparently Stallone wants to give him "an excellent boost towards big screen action stardom," considering his last role was the direct-to-DVD Scorpion King 2, a big pile of **** if you ask me. This now rounds out the cast of mercenaries and puts the project on track to start shooting in March in Brazil.

The Expendables will follow a team of "expendable" mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. The names of the five mercenaries are Hale Caesar, Kong Kao, Christmas, Barney Ross, and Gunnar. In addition to the casting scoop, Stallone revealed to AICN that Jet Li would be fighting Dolph Lundgren at one point in the movie. Now that we know the complete cast, I've got to say I'm still incredibly excited for this, just to see an original story starring five certified badasses. Just think about Rambo from this year and imagine if there were five Rambos, not just one. Excited?

    God. Damn.!!

    seriously

    Seriously

this is going to be EPIC

Just after checking the IMDB page there and the next person rumored to be in the cast is Forest Whitaker:D

When I first read that I thought he would make an excellent dictator, but he's played that role before!! So it seems his role will (if confirmed) be that of a CIA agent, who's partner is rumored to be Sandra Bullock, so that's the eye candy for the movie wrapped up:)

According to Stallone, he's aiming for a PG-13 rating, so that rules out a bloodfest a la John Rambo. At first I thought this was a bad thing, but if he's not going for all out action then he must be trying to make an actual good movie.

Googling brings up a quote from an ''insider'' saying it's going to be like ''Clear and Present Danger on acid''.

    Awesome.

Meh, it's got Jason "I'm *not* the gay" Statham. Can't be that bad.

Looks like Mickey Rourke is a probable addition to the cast. Rumours of Ben Kingsley too...
    Mickey Rourke Is Expendable

Having shown a certain pal-ship with The Stath at The London premiere of The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke has now joined his 13 cast-mate on the roll-call for Sylvester Stallone's new venture The Expendables.

He will be just one more bit of rough to add to the greatest action cast ever put together, which includes Hollywood's reigning kung-fu master, Jet Li, unstoppable force Dolph Lungdren, ultimate fighter Randy Couture and other recent recruit Forest 'Ghost Dog' Whittaker (who signed up earlier this week to play their CIA liason ), in addition to Statham and Stallone himself. Plus Sir Ben Kingsley is in talks to join in the action too, which would bring the combined starring-cast age to a mighty 403 years of awsomeness.

Rourke has openly admitted a debt of gratitude to Stallone, who gave him his first stab at a return to high-profile acting back in 2000 when he cast him in Get Carter.

The film will focus on a band of - yep you guessed it - expendable mercenaries, who are secretly sent in to do the dirty job that no one else would take, of overthrowing a South American dictator. Rourke will play the arms dealer who becomes involved with the team.

Stallone, who wrote the script for The Expendables has been scouting for locations, and now that his cast looks pretty much perfect, he is looking for the Brazil based shoot to kick off in March.

    http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=23956

    So far we have:

    - Sly
    - Jet Li
    - The Stath
    - Dolph
    - Randy Couture
    - Forest Whitaker
    - Sandra Bullock (rumoured)
    - Mickey Rourke (not confirmed)

Really just need a name actor now to fill that S. American dictator stereotype slot. Del Toro, please :pac:

Still no Carl Weathers yet, Karl, but I have my fingers crossed for ye!
