And somehow, a player managed to lose his stack on the first hand.

On a jack high flop, Our very own Nicky Power shipped the loot in with 9,10.

Nicky has an open ended straight draw,
And was looked up by Paul Coyle with top and bottom.
Nicky makes a pair on the turn, no magic trips on the river as Paul fills his house.

Plenty of the usual suspects in attendance. Boardsies spotted thus far include-ppspecial, Ozpoker, Conbro, Smurph, Sideshow, NicNic, The Clamper (perhaps that should have been in capitals!) and AKQJ10.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,064 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

And again Nicky Power is all-in again.

    Flop
    7 10 J (two diamonds)
Nicky bets out and is called in one spot,

    Turn a 5 of diamonds,
Nicky goes all in. Called by the button.

Nicky asks "have you the flush".
    He doesn't and table A7
Nicky tables 89 for the flopped straight, his straight flush re-draw is not needed as he has the lock.

Just as I post this, Nicky is all-in again. This time with bottom set and he holds up.

    Nicky on 20k, average 5.5k

Ladbrokes festival winner Jimmy McSweeney is hovering with intent on over 11k. The Killarney winner, who pocketed over 100k is hoping to add another impressive result to his Cv.

    Colette "Smurph" Murphy,
    Raises pf with 88,
A player in late position pushes for 2k,
Smurph makes the call and is shown A7 diamonds.

The flop is 568.........giving smurph top set, but the two diamonds give the shortstack a flush draw to go along with the open ender.
Smurph breaths a sigh of relief when two bricks fall.

Steven McLean has left the building. Despite picking up huge starting hands AA, KK, QQ in quick succession he was unable to hold in any of the huge pots that developed.

Sylvester Geoghegan does not know how to lose. Sly called a 2k bet on the river, announcing bottom pair. Despite misreading his hand and actually only holding ace high, he still claimed the pot. What a read!

Nicky seems to be playing a tight solid game anyway, tell him he is very old and bald

165 players started tonight, with just twenty minutes left to rebuy we still have 155. The shorter stacks are now looking to gamble as the early pace setters look forward to the freezeout period.

Players are on a twenty minute break. The rebuy period is over as our remaining 134 players return to 200-400 blinds.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Sideshow is up to over 25k winning a series of small pots since the restart.
Nicky Power is having a great time and moving his chips around liberally. He also has over 25k.
The average stack is 15k and the prizepool stands at a juicy 26k.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Paul Burke has got off to a good start winning the trip to Vegas provided by Bruce poker! Viva indeed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,064 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    Jimmey McSweeney is gone.

    Blinds 200/400,
Dara O'Kearey raises to 1200 after a limper,
Next to act flat calls, followed by a push for 5k from Jimmy McSweeney,
Limper folds and Dara makes the call, After a dwell, the flat caller folds.

Dara shows AK, and Jimmy is live with 74,

    The board reads;
    K Q 2 K 5

And Jimmy is gone. Dara is now up to 20k.

Young Dubliner, Troy Prendergast is cruising with over 30k and is looking to extend a remarkable run that stretches back to his big cash in the Sporting Emporium Betdaq freerole.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Marc McDonnell (AkQJ10) is on life support and desperately looking for a double up. He was left crippled when his flopped staright was unable to hold against two opponents who remarkably held the same hand. He is down to less than 5k.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

The Bruce Poker sponsered Nicky Power from the deise is up to 35K and looks comfortable on a star studded table that includes Northern Irish player Paul Lecky, Pat Storan and Denis Reyes.

Derek "The Clamper" Williams is very short stacked with just over 6k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,064 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Tension was high after the break as four names were pulled from a hat by Bruced sponsored Nicky Power.

Brought up to the stage and each presented with a girl and an envelope. Three contained a silver ticket worth €100, but the much sought after golden ticket was worth a Trip to Vegas.

Paul Burke was the lucky gent to pull out the golden ticket. Earning himself a trip to vegas courtesty of Bruce Poker.
Pictured below the winer Paul Burke with Paul Smallwood and Thomas Byrne of Bruce Poker, and of course the Bruce poker girls.

Alan Kelleher "Big Al" has raced into the chiplead. He has over 70k courtesy of a triple up when his AK managed to turn both his opponents respective QQ. The money could well be finding its way to Cork!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

    Boards chipcount.

    Conbro El Busto. Circumstances unknown!

Yuletired Gone. He was seen with what looked like a very nice pint so all is not lost.

    Smurph 6k

    Sideshow 17k

    ITT Pat 9k

Jbravado Gone. Coolered in the most cruel fashion. Obviously.

Bruce Poker are feeling generous, just this minute Paul from Bruce has decided to add another Champions League Trip on Sunday, so that’s two trips to be won, plus cash prizes for runner-ups.
One trip will be part of the Freeroll, and another to be given away at the end of the night.

To be in with a chance to win, you have to have a Bruce Poker Account (Required to play ME) that had €50 lodged to it. Simple.

Paul Quinn is moving up through the field and has joined the chip leaders with an imposing stack of over 80k. He just moved over the top of a 7k open with Akc and looked as shocked as everyone else when his opponent folded with just 10k left behind!

    "ITT PAT" Mitchell,
    Raises to 4700 preflop with,
    One caller,
    A25 Flop,

Pat check calls to the river, Where he faces a bet of half his remaining stack.
Turn was an 8 and the river a 2.
After dwelling up, Pat shoves to be met with a snap call.
Pat instantly flips his slowplayed AA for top house and the other player mucks.

    Pat now on 35k

Dermot Blaine is our latest faller. Facing a serial raiser he moved in for 14k from the button with the Aqh. He found himself a little unlucky and in bad shape against Ak. The flop brought an ace but Dermot could not spike a queen. We are now left with 78 brave souls.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

The Running man, Dara O'Kearney is the latest victim of a tournament ending bad beat. He reached a peak of 30k early doors, but was unable to find a hold when it really mattered when his QQ was rivered by KJ. Remarkably considering Dara's image the chips found their way into the middle preflop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,064 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

The chip lead is a toss up between three players at the moment.
Sideshow Bob, Jackie Delaney and Nickt Power.
All of whom have roughly 60k, although Nicky Power is liable to fluctuate by 30k at any minute

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Sporting Emporium regular Noni Pham could be tonights chip and a chair story. She has built her remaining 3k chips into a formidable 40k and is winning a lot of pots.
Damo Kavanagh is another one who has come back from the brink, running his last 4k into just over 30k.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

There is no doubt about it, the poker Gods have a mischievious sense of humour. Nicky Power called his opponents preflop shove with JJ. He quickly flipped his
hand however his opponent only turned one card, a king.
He completed the slowroll by eventually flipping another King to match it.
With great vengenance and furious anger the poker Gods proceceeded to wait for the river to deal the case jack for Nicky!Sheepishly, his opponent made his way to the rail with his tail between his legs.

The breakdown of prizes is as follows:
    18-15 Euro: 350
    14-11 Euro: 450
    10th Euro: 550
    9th Euro: 700
    8th Euro: 900
    7th Euro: 1200
    6th Euro: 1500
    5th Euro: 1800
    4th Euro: 2300
    3rd Euro: 3500
    2nd Euro: 5500

For those that way inclined an 18 way chop would equate to a cool 1700 each!
Apologies my euro button is out of action!

It appears that the Gods are looking favourable on Eamon Donnelly also, he took a hit early in the first level and was forced to rebuy. Shortly later he got the loot in the middle once again. He was ahead, but sadly, the big draw got there and rejected, he got up to take the walk of shame as the first player out. Tourney Director JP McCann even marked him off the tourney info displayed around the room.
Lucily the dealer relised that his rebuy was 7k, and the winning player should of still had his original starting stack of 5k. Eamon was called back to his seat and trudged along with his useless 2k stack.

Players are now on a 20 minute break. And Eamon, is still in, his 2k has grown and he now sits aoung the chip leaders with 58k. wp sir

58 players remain. Noteable faces include

    Nicky Power 75k
    Sideshow 35k
    Smurph 30k
    Oz Poker 34k
    Troy Prendergast 40k
    Big Al 50k
    Robert Gleeson 60k

Glen O'Rourke is the first man to break 100k!

    We've a new chip leader,
In a raised heads up pot, the BB checks raises all in.
Feeling pot commited, Paul makes the call with Ace high. The BB has 77,
The turn pings up an Ace and the river pairs the board.
Paul Coyle is awarded the 80k pot and the chiplead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Sideshow has been eliminated in cruel fashion. Utg moved in for 16k,his last 8 big blinds.
It was folded around to the button who called immediately-quicker still Bob moved in for last last 30k,the button called after a long dwell.
The best hand going in finished last however, as Bob's QQ was outdrawn by Aq and 79c who rivered a straight for the main pot.

Nicky Power, action junkie, has been getting it in at every opportunity.
But the life of a junkie, is often cut short. Blinds 2k/4k with a 200 ante and folded to Nic in the he ships 44k into the middle. The BB wakes up with JJ and makes the call.
No magic ace for Bruce's own, and Nicky is content with a Heineken on the rail.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

    Some chip counts

    David Bunyan 90k
    Oz Poker 60k
    Smurph 55k
    Niall Cambell 90k
    Big Al 45k

Joe Keogh, who entered the tournament just two minutes before the end of new entries is one of the chipleaders with nearly 130k.

There are 37 players left with an average stack of 64k. Blinds are now 3-6k with a 300 running ante.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

We have a new leader! Peter Halpin, slayer of Nicky Power is now the clear chip leader with 200k plus.
He just raked a huge pot when his JJ was able to hold versus K10c and A9. All the money went in on a 9 high, two club flop. A serious sweat but Peter is now in great shape.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭jbravado

Peter Hanlin almost extended his chip lead but his QQ fell short against KQ and Aq. The dealer ignored the chants for a queen but threw up a king on the turn to match Anthony Murphy's who now has over 100k.

Noni Pham has doubled up and is the latest player to break the 150k mark. Damo Kavanagh beat her into the pot with his last 40k when she open shoved up front with AK. Damien had to dodge a bullet but was unable to when the window card came an ace.
