I don't venture outside the poker forum but it seems that some mods there feel that some women mods are abusing there power in other forums. As a chauvinist myself I cant understand how women were given these powers in the first place esp in a soccer forum ffs.

what is it with people always whinging about mods. Majority of em are grand. I got banned last week for 7 days and i pm'ed the mod that banned me just laughing. He replied just saying he was doing what he had to do. I didnt mind that at all. To many people cant handle the fact someone has a little bit of power. Sad really

why women are even allowed vote is beyond me. I think CuLt should be given a big lovely leather chair and have those female fools scrub the floors of the database. Then blame them when things go wrong.

My guess is because, from a boards.ie ltd. point of view, it's cheaper to insure women as moderators.

Don't worry, as long as cuLT doesn't get his sex change, we're all good.

But seriously, a women in charge of the soccer forum? It was bad enough giving PHB a mod job in there but to then get a baby maker in there aswell is shocking imo.

Are there no cooking forums for her to look after?

Not high on power but aroused by it constantly and the more forums we mod the more intense it is, why I have gone through 2 usb plug and play vibrators already this month.
They work with a speical script every time I use the modutlis, oh I can't stand it any more I am off to find someone to ban for no reason so I can have another orgasm

I don't agree with the wording of the OP, and the general tone of his post.

However, I do feel that a mod, whether male or female, should be in tune with the general nature of the forum they mod, and the people who use it. The mod in question, imo, is very heavy handed when it comes to locking threads, outlawing certain behavior etc. It often strikes me that this is a result of the mod being totally subjective, and not applying any sort of objectivity to the decision.

Earlier today, a thread was started by a regular poster in Soccer, and a mod himself, about Pat Dolan, including a picture of Pat in a takeaway restaurant. It was well received by the majority, and I think anyone who is in anyway familiar with Soccer, would have seen the funny side of the pic/thread. However, the mod in question didn't agree, and locked it.

For me, this, and many other decisions, aren't in line with what the vast majority of the users of the soccer forum feel.

With all that said, I am now prepared for the onslaught of posts labeling me a 'sexist' or telling me how the soccer forum is a 'difficult forum to mod'.

I wondered when you'd show up.

I'll take the case at hand in direct reference to your point below, but regarding your broader charge about, no doubt, posting "girly pics" in the soccer forum, no matter how much you want it to be, boards.ie soccer forum is not football365. We've worked VERY hard to make it so.

If you want a 365-like site, go there, stay there, enjoy it. The soccer forum is for the dicussion of soccer. PERIOD.

I'll grant you there is an off-topic thread, but that is for forum interaction, not for, as you have, the posting of a page full of scantly clad women. There is a slydice forum for that, go there.

I'll say this straight now. If the off-topic thread becomes more trouble that it is worth, such as your point here, I'll lock it for good and we'll keep the forum purely for soccer dicussion.

The general topic of the thread was "look at this candid picture of a soccer personality (who I have never heard of) eating at 2am in burger king - see how fat and ugly he is...huzzah"

Now, apart from the fact the thread was against the forum ules on abuse (because the thread was all about abusing the personality involved), why exactly why you think this merits discussion in the soccer forum is beyond me, but I'll save you a retort... it doesn't.

Again, if you want to talk about that kinda shit, go to 365. Here, let me link it for you.

For me, this, and many other decisions, aren't in line with what the vast majority of the users of the soccer forum feel.

The vast majority of users post there abiding by the rules 99% of the time. Just because you aren't happy, don't speak for everyone else.

With all that said, I am now prepared for the onslaught of posts labeling me a 'sexist' or telling me how the soccer forum is a 'difficult forum to mod'.

Modding the forum is easy, dealing with the level of idiocy that comes out of the forum is difficult.

But seriously, a women in charge of the soccer forum?

And I moderate The Ladies Lounge, so what? Is there an actual point you're trying to make or do you just like pointing out what people already know?

I see you have employed your usual level of diplomacy when replying to some criticsim.

And yes, that's all I care about when posting in OTT, pics of nude women.

The majority of times when a pic of a women was posted in OTT, it was of someone who was being discussed or a situation and they are rarely if ever 'scantily clad'. e.g. talking about Entourage and one of it's characters

    sloan.jpg

Shock horror, males talking about women and how they can be good looking.

I have no intention of trying to turn Boards into F365, they are very different beasts. However, you seem to equate anything related to women or sophmoric humour, as vile 365 over the top style content.

I was once like you. Eventually I was weaned off the hard stuff onto Questions and Answers. Then onto that crappy Vincent Browne version of Q&A on TV3. Then Joe Duffy. And finally AH. I can proudly say I haven't had a good intellectual reasoned debate in 3 months. It wasn't easy and I'm not out of the woods yet by any means. But I'm making steady progress.

I see you have employed your usual level of diplomacy when replying to some criticsim.

    Why is diplomacy required here?

I'm telling it to you straight, if you'd rather a vague ambiguous answer I'll try in future.
The majority of times when a pic of a women was posted in OTT, it was of someone who was being discussed or a situation and they are rarely if ever 'scantily clad'. e.g. talking about Entourage and one of it's characters
And I said context was fine, but there was no need for a pervert session.

It should be noted that when the minority of the time occurs in this context, you are the majority offender.
Shock horror, males talking about women and how they can be good looking.
There are several forums that exist for this, soccer isn't one of them.

I'm not sure how much clearer I can be and why you have a problem understanding this.

As for 365, well I believe you're the one referencing it all the time, that is my only reason for suggesting you go there.

I still don't get these "fight the power" threads. Unless I'm doing it wrong moderators have very little power at all. Really I think people need to stop taking warnings, infractions, bannings etc so seriously. At the end of the day it' just a few simple clicks on a web page that has a slight impact on the clicks you make on a web page. If people are really worried about the "power" some random anonymous forum moderator has over them they really need to switch off and go out and find a damn good psychiatrist to give them lots and lots of little happy pills.
