5D MkII viewing

ISS have a pre production 5DMkII in store, had a look at it this morning, very impressed. Only on view today I think. They wouldn't let me use my own card so I could take away some sample pics and video though, which was disappointing

Out, yes, in my hands, 2 weeks. In shops around Ireland, 2 weeks.

Won't be mine though, I'm waiting for it to be proved on a test run first.

Oh, and Irish Times is converting over to them for the video function, by the sounds of it.

I've heard 2 sep dates of November 21st :cool: and 5th December. :mad:
It's killing me too at this stage.
It will be like getting a load of new lenses too trying out all mine on a FF system.

Though, that may not be the only reason. Hehehehe. Well, from what I know, there'll be 33 cameras shipped in of that date, I think all of them are already sold, but there'll be another shipment in straight after. I'm not sure if I can give my sources online, but if you see me feicing around with some HD video on a lensbaby on my Flickr by next thursday, it means I've been toying with one.

They should be getting their full stock in quite soon too - Before late December, as expected... Though there's quite a waiting list there too. Might be worth your time checking out Adorama instead of B&H.

Heard about the Irish Times switch a while ago at a presentation given one of their photographers. She was just happy it was lighter than the 1D!

I wonder what happens to their old gear?

Well, was told that's all the stock coming in on the first run from pre-orders, but can't be entirely sure.

Am entirely open to being proved wrong here with that, but the rest is pretty on the ball (Or I know someone who'll be mightily pissed off, with dire consequences :pac: :rolleyes:)

Maybe we should head over to the paranormal forum and ask the psychics there if they can tell us when it'll be released.

wow things are getting a bit frazzled in the 5DmkII queue! I'm glad I went for the 50D !! although I reserve the right to be envious when you all get yours! btw www.expansys.ie are listing their in-stock date as the 28th November. Good price too

I only ordered 2 weeks ago and the list was less than 20.

I need it before Christmas though, otherwise I'll have to go with a 50d.

29th shipping date in Japan is what I'm reading over at dpreview site and then it takes another couple of days to trickle down to us customers...
So I still think the earlier post I mentioned with 3rd December is about right.
Very limited number in the 1st batch too by all accounts.

Canon may have learned from the iPhone releases that if you create desire and then initially restrict supply you will generate more sales. The cryptic sneak picture that they put up on their website before the release had a real Apple flavour about it (if you pardon the pun). 6am queues around the block anyone?

Can't see it to be honest .. this item is to "hioher end" ... you're not gonna see adds in the cinema , bus stops etc .. for the 5D mkII .. like you do for the
iPhone ... every numpty wants an iPhone .. the same can't be said of a 5D mkii .. its a quality piece .. made in Japan ... the iPhone is cheap **** .. made in China /Malaysia...

Right on schedule, Canon Japan has announced the EOS 5D Mark II will release to retailers on Saturday November 29.

C'mere, does anyone have any word on battery grips for the 5D mk II? I couldn't dig up any release date, and I'm not going to assume it's being released the same date as the body.

But the regular view finder has similar .. like focus points AF points ?

The focus screen will just allow you to see a grid in the view finder so you can apply rule of thirds a little easier or line up the horizon etc
