    Hi.
I want to improve my posture and was wondering is there any work in the gym i can do ?
I'm 6ft 3" and have been going gym on and off for about 3 years. i dont really have a hump or anything dramatic like that i just tend to lean down or forward when i'm walking. a boxing coach told me it was just from being use to leaning down when talking to people.

    Anybody got any advice ?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm about the same height as you and have always had posture problems. I would reccomend going to see a physio if its causing you pain. The physio I saw gave me excercises to do everyday at home that really help.

If you've no physio related problems, deadlifting will help you out.

Similar height and similar problem :(

Lots of back work in the gym helped me ;)
    Especially dumbbell rows.

    • Seated Machine Rows (elbows high)
    • Standard Deadlift
    • Deadlift with snatch grip ... i.e. wide, around the other rings.

..and probably lots of facepull / pull ups probably won't hurt.

I have mentioned this before here. To really make a positive change in your posture take a look into Rolfing.

Do you mean rolling on the floor laughing or the magic massage with no proven benefits?

I am not a scientist so I can only speak for myself. Rolfing almost completely eradicated my chronic back pain. My posture was much better afterwards and I had friends tell me that I looked taller. I manage to do yoga poses that escaped me for years.

I dont know what the scientific benefits of yoga are but I know that it helps me feel good and I am better able to deal with the day to day stresses when I am practising every day. I also swear that yoga is responsible for my great looking bum.

No offence but its statements like that , that keep alternative therapies in business.
'I don't know about science but it worked for me' is a statement of little value to me.
