    What's everyone recording these days?

Is it your own project or for some one else?

A demo/song writing project or for release?

We're working with a great New Band from Dublin called Evora, 2 tracks both recorded and 1 mixed. It's coming out good!

And when he hits those high notes you wonder where the sound is coming from! He's a lovely guy. He's playing The Song Room soon, a live music night I run in The Globe soon (shameless plug). Drop down with him.

I have also hired a grade 8 classical guitarist to play one of my songs in my wee studio and I am going back into the warzone with my songwriting. Any drummers that are really good may apply, no bullwizzles.

I'm preparing for a seminar on how to write VST plugins that I'm giving tomorrow. Does that information belong in the music production forum? Was it even gramatically correct? Who knows..

Just finishing off the scores for 2 pieces to be performed in a 24 date concert tour of the USA by the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra. See http://www.dublinphilharmonic.com/cami_repertoire.php

Big deal for me. I'm hoping to go to the last concert in California on Paddy's day here. Some venue.

Just completed the soundtrack to Daniel O'Donnell the movie:D

You guys are in a completely different universe to me.

I am still trying very hard to get to grips with the basics of Logic Pro.

Any tips or advise would be very welcome.

I'm no Pro.. here's my report Chaps..

Not been able to do much Music wise over the last while.. But have had plenty to keep me occupied. Moved to Roscommon from Dublin 2 months ago.. Still unpacking my life from boxes.

My music schtuff will be last to be unpacked, as my new room is the dumping ground.. but I'll probably begin setting everything up over the next couple of weekends or so.. Thats what I'm planning / aiming for ;)

We've had a Baby also.. Moving house + Baby boy + No job = :pac:

I havent really started looking for a job yet.. Maybe after Xmas. Everything is going great for us. Its been great hanging out with my boy & Wife. The way I look at it, I'll probably never get the chance to spend this time again :( LOL

SO.. I'm enjoying Country life.. The House was finished by the builder for us, so has no huge DIY requirements - touch wood. I've been filling my days with building some raised beds for veg out in the back garden.. getting them ready before the winter etc.. How civilised!

My next "project" will be to figure out how to treat my new 3m x 3m room a little. The house we have now has solid walls - not studded.. so I hope that will make a difference with the leakage. We're in a detatched house as well, so neighbours are not an issue anymore! Haha!! Anyway, I've been saving up my eggboxes so I'm sorted

I'm also looking forward (No I'm not..) to doing a fresh install of OSX and all my plugins (I'm all software). My copies of Arturia's Minimoog V & Jupiter 8 have yet to be used. Cant wait to get going again.

Finally, been using Reason on the Laptop lots. Just getting out a few ideas. I really miss that Matrix sequencer.. great for basslines & rhythmic pieces.

Wish Logic had something similar.. a dedicated midi unit - AU etc.. But thats a different story altogether. I've downloaded a couple of things for the environment, so we'll see how that goes when I get back up & running. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............

Paul, that is very impressive, you are obviously a professional musician or producer . No doubt you have worked on lots of non DOD stuff also.

Are most of the people on here professionals? ie making a living from music production?

Recently finished audio post for "8.5 hours"
    http://www.8point5hours.com/
Also recently finished audio post for "Da Gist", a 4 part teenage magazine show for Dublin Community TV.
Almost finished the mix for another movie called "bitterness" which has been delayed by having to do a lot of ADR (dialogue replacement).
Starting the mix for a 6 part documentary for TG4 in 2 weeks.
As a total opposite to film/tv stuff I have finished an album for Irish metal band "Morphosis" and this week and next week I am recording an album for NI metal band "Putrefy". I have an album booked for "Abaddon incarnate" for January and "Warpath" for February.

So a short answer would be "tv/film and Death Metal"
    Now that's what I call diversity:D

I'm off recording and production currently as i've got a liking for the more organic kind of music making and songwriting.
And so i'm planning on selling off my MIDI Keyboard in order to gain funds for a Fender Telecaster...

I'ld still be recording songs on it for a demo or something... Might also be recording bass lines and drums... Till I can put together a trio to replace me playing the bass and the computer playing the drums!

After that i could come to you guys for some proper recording help to put out a skankin EP! :D

I'm up to my eyes at the moment.
Have a billion and one releases coming out in the new year.

Just got 5 tracks signed to a mega-big-label (who are initially putting out on their sublabel).
Have a remix out this month sometime.

I'm playing the Pod this saturday and Ri-Ra next Friday (both livesets).
Getting my Live/DJ bookings sorted out in the new year with my management.

I bought a coffee machine to help me stay awake for all this.

Yup, you all seem to doing pretty darn well (can i use the word darn?) and from what it sounds like here, you guys seem to have quite a decent taste and feel for music...

Then, why? Why??? is 99.999% of all new Irish music absolute ****e?!
C'mon guys, raise up your standards here, we can do much better than that!! We can show the Brits and Americans we can put out bands like Radiohead and David Bowie too!
Only if we get the time off the pub...

    Yes yes yes!!
Hopefully towards the end of this year or early next year i'ld say.
Just gotta make sure it doesn't sound ****e like rest of the crap all these local bands are putting out. Though I don't know any Irish band that sounds like the sound I'm chasing... Could I make it to be the next big thing?? Oh we all wish!!! :pac:

In fairness all new music (MAINSTREAM) seems to be 99.99% s***e, not just Ireland but globally..well in my opinion anyway.
has anything come out in the last six months that could equal radiohead or Bowie?
I'm sure there are bands in Ireland up to this at the moment but struggle for the recognition.

^Kid A seems to be their most highly appraised album though!

I liked their new album In Rainbows though. Thom York's solo album 'The Eraser' was class too imo. They're currently the best British band out there if I can dare to say so!
    They're the most innovative atleast...
