Liverpool v Baggies (by demand of kingshankly)

Gone for a business like 4-4-2 starting 11 (don't forget Fantasy Rafa its never too late to join up).

After the reversal of form and fortune against Spurs (played well but lost), I'm hoping for a scrappy 3-0 win ;) Torres is presumed to be starting so I'd like him and Keane against a likely 4-5-1 WBA formation.

    Reina
    Arby--Carra--Agger--Dossa
    Kuyt---Gerrard--Masch--Riera
    Torres-Keane

Vital to get 3 points today important to set a high tempo and a early goal would help

Really hoping West Brom can get something from today but can't see past a very easy Liverpool win.

Come on the pool. Make the most of Utds **** up.

Obviously, it is difficult to see a path to the league title that doesn't involve beating West Brom at home. That said, you can't just make results happen. I'm personally hoping for a good performance. If we can dominate possession; pass well; vary our approach and defend solidly where required we should create enough chances to win.

Against Stoke we played well and had our chances but couldn't take them. Would be nice if today was different.

    liverpool 94% posssesion, 88% territory, 94 chances, 66 on target, goals 0.
West brom 3 chances, 3 on target, goals 3.

That would be the only way that result could happen.

I'd like to see Keane rested and Ngog or Babel given a run up front with Torres. I expect to see Kuyt rested also, with Benny probably in for him.

funnily enough I wouldn't be totally shocked by similar stats and a 1 nil lost in last minute. Bad couple of games, need to really walk on a team like this to set things straight.

I know we all would like to see an emphatic victory lads but il take one nil here and now it's all about the three points nobody remembers how leagues were won just when the were won
    Come on the red men

FFS! Thats my Fantasy Rafa average taking a hit :(

Still, good firepower on the bench if required.

    Why isn't Torres playing?

    Why isn't Torres playing?

He still isn't 100%. There is also no point risking him against a team near bottom that we should be well capable of putting away without him.

    1-0 Pool.

Late goal, after Brom keep 8 men behind the ball at all times, and Liverpool fail to break them down.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

I dont think there is enough firepower in that side & Benayoun isnt great on the wing in a 4-4-2. Also, what does Babel have to do to get a game ? He hasnt had a single start in the league this season. Hes not going to improve by sitting on the bench.

The back 5 is all first choice though and on paper, we should have too much for them. With United dropping points today a win is a paramount.

alonso would be a better bet than mascherano against the likes of west brom

Quite interesting to see Insua on the bench instead on Dossena. Hopefully he gets a run out today at some stage.

West Brom have started well......need to sharpen up some of our passing

I'd love to see Liverpool overestimate West Brom, both to keep the Premiership interesting and the 90 minutes interesting

I think Liverpool winning today would keep the premiership interesting.

.......aaah good half chance for keane there

Good chance for Keane at the end of a spell which originated from some excellent play from Riera.

Beginning to force some mistakes now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,233 ✭✭✭darkskol

Yossi really has to stop overplaying the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,434 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

silly decision by West Brom on that corner. Get it into the box first time - you have taller players.

mascherano is such a great tackler of the ball. one of the best ive seen

    HAND BALL!!!

fjsfjgafhkahfkhfk commentator. Yes, it isn't going in - but if he doesn't handle it the ball is spinning free in the six yard box with the keeper out of the equation.

****ing hell, the moment I leave my tv and sit down here Keane scores :D

In other news, if Kuyt and Gerrard had the "soft feet" of Yossi we'd be 4 - 0 up by now.
