I'm a 4. Life's great except for one thing - my job. To be fair, the money's all right and the people are nice and it's a good organisation to work for, but it's so mundane and unfulfilling. I know a job's a job and you can do more interesting stuff outside of it. That doesn't fully cut it for me though. It gets me down a small bit tbh. However, I'm working on ways of changing this...

Overall, life is good and I'm very lucky. :)

I'm a four.... one of two things i'd change but overall i am super duper! I'd probably be a 5 if the word recession wasn't being bandied around so much

Strong 4. Well, I am a happy person and besides I have everything I need and a brilliant gf to boot. Could have been a 5 but effing rain and cold is bringing the overall grade down.

    Same as you Dudess.

    I have a nice life, can't complain.

Complaining only makes a person bitter and twisted.

    I'm happy out,

Doesn't that mean I'm extra happy?

Happy. Doing fine but want to leave the country so that'll be next year. Then hopefully I'll move up the scale :)

    2.5.
Financial situation is good. Family situation is fairly good. College situation is average. Friend situation is not so good. Love life, as always, is non-existent. So I'm about halfway between happiness and unhappiness.

I've always been a "glass is half-empty" type of person though. One of my friends once told me that the only time I'm ever happy is when I'm miserable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭Zangetsu

Lovin every second tbh, good times bad times, can't go wrong :D

    I'll give it an 11!

    Im not so bad.

Whatever my situation is, it could always be worse. Imagine being the father of children in DC Congo or some other godforsaken shoite hole like Baghdad or Navan.

    I said 3. I'm a bit up and down.

I've a lot of bullshit which is dragging me down like college, money, injuries etc but I always appreciate how lucky I am, I've got good relationships with the family, friends, girlfirend etc. I have good people around me and I'm lucky to have that. No matter how bad everything else gets, as long as I have these people around me I don't think I'd ever slip below 3.

To be honest, the only thing in life bar the people around me (who contribute greatly to this) is happiness. I'd rather be a bum on the street and be happy than be a depressed millionaire. All I want is to be happy.

I'm miserable. But that's ok, i'm always miserable.

It's you happy people that have it bad, sure everything sunny now but one day the plot of every country and western song will happen to you, you'll lose your job, your wife will be having an affair with your pickup truck and your millkman will have been killed by your dog.

Then you'll crack because you can't deal with it.
me, that would have been an average monday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭Zangetsu

    thelordofcheese nah....

I'm happy cause I know life for the most part is horribly depressing but I've accepted it and moved on, in the same boat as you just more optimistic about the whole situation :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

Nice to see the happy end of the scale being held up, it's just good to know that a lot of people are in good moods at the moment.

For me, i went with 4. I couldn't really ask for much more positive in my life at the moment. Personal projects are going well and are nice and fulfilling. Have a fantastic relationship with my girlfriend, my friends are excellent. Work situation is good and job looks secure.

The only real thing going against the bliss would be money but after another month or two all that should be sorted as i just decided i had to grow up about my finances. When you earn good money but are broke at the end of each month you need to ask yourself some questions!

So hopefully, the New Year = bliss?:pac:

    1.5

Fresh out of college with a highly regarded degree, but can't get any work. Sent out about 25 CVs and only got acknowledgements for about 4 of them. May have to emigrate. Am worried cos I took out a loan for a new car, so if I do find work abroad, I will lose out on a lot of money. And the weather is ****e.

Only reason I'm not a 1 is cos I am due back a couple of grand in emergency tax.

I do hate people who claim "I'm always happy"......no you're fuckin not you horrible liar! And if you were, then you are a psychopath! Are you happy at funerals? When loved ones are sick/die? Were you walking around with a big teethy grin on September 11th 2001? Yea? Fuck off!

im goint to say 5, just married my best friend and the love of my life :D, new house that I love, good bit of cash in the bank, we both have steady, well paid jobs and family and friends are all well so cant complain about anything really.

    life is guuuuud

Neil, people who say that there happy all the time necessarily have to be happy happy all the time. Many just embrace all of their emotions such as hate fear love, its all part of the experience. A ****ty day usually turns out to be a good day after a while... I nearly burst a nut falling off a wall onto a pole, not happy at the time or for the weeks surrounding but people spit out their pints with laughter when I tell the story. I'm happy it happened :)

I have cancer, but I am happy.

I am not happy about having cancer, but I can still be happy with my daily life.

I have never had less money, it is a year since I have worked, but I am still happy, money does not make us happy.

I have days where I feel quite low, but a hug from one of my kids will soon bring a smile back to my face.

I believe that happiness is a choice we make.

I'm a 4 - got a great girlfriend, good gang of mates, and plenty of exciting hobbies and collegework to keep me busy. Me and some friends are going to Japan next summer to travel around and explore the wonderful country, and am celebrating anniversary with gf in London in January. College work going great at the mo aswell.

Why am I not a 5? Perhaps I'm a bit too over-ambitious. I need more €s :p I'll be fine, but have to save very carefully. And find a way to inject an extra few hours into a day.

I'm a 4 at the moment, just started my first job and I'm happy to have my own money, i'm still living at home so I'm not paying major bills which allows me to buy a few things i've wanted for a long time without putting the burden on my parents' pocket. My friends are great too so I've no problems there ! Finding time to fit everything I want to do during the weekend and week day can be hard cause of the shifts I'd work.

I'm in a great relationship with an amazing girl, i'd be very happy if I could see her often. She lives in Cork and i'm up here in Dublin so it can be hard, still, it gives me something to look forward to though :)

Moderate to Mild westerly gust of happiness with showers of depression in the afternoon. Clearing later for a cool night of acceptance and comfort with a band of low meloncholy moving in from the eastern seaboard before morning.

    Goodnight.

Indeed. But you weren't happy at the time, hence you're not happy all of the time. It just gets my goat people saying that with their big "look at me" grin! :P

I do agree that we should always look on the bright side of life.

Money does not make you happy.

Material possessions do not make you happy.

For me happiness comes from your relationships with others and the comfort you feel in your own skin.

Strong 4 - good friends, health and fitness. Planning for 09 - new job ready in Feb, going away for a few weeks in January. Have plenty of €€ in the bank. Is that the sun I see shining outside??

    Somewhere between 2 & 3[and not 2.5]

Work is fine, home is fine, personal life not so much but can't do anything about it as it's outta my hands. Can be annoying sometimes is all.

    I said a 2! Feeling a quite blue atm.

Dropped out of college. Horribly unemployed and just can't seem to get a job. Fantastic boyfriend, fantastic friends who I don't see nearly enough of.

Not the end of the world though. It's all good. 'Tis just a rough patch.

Without meaning to sound condescending don't get hung up on the dropped out of college issue. I dropped out twice!!!

It can take some time to find what you really want to do and then it can take even longer to find the balls to go for it.

You're a smart lass, keep your head together and you'll be looking back in a couple of months remembering when you felt down from a nice happy haze.:)
