well i joined Northwood gym at the start of August, mainly to tone up, lose some weight (dreaded gut) and improve fitness for football.

being on this forum ever since and have got some great advice in the stickies and also from people directly and of course indirectly when others ask questions that also help me too.

i have definately seen an increase in my fitness levels, and can really see the difference in football training and my matches.

but with football on monday, cardio on tuesday, football wednessday, cardio thursday and a football match on satuarday, i felt and everybody was saying im doing alot of cardio.

so i mentioned it to the gym instructor last night during one of my cardio routines about jumping onto weights and he said, sure why not.

so this is going to be my new week now :

monday - play football for an hour - lots of running
    tuesday - gym
    wednessday - break
thursday - play football for an hour - lots of running
    friday - gym
satuarday - play a football match so an hour and a half of play.
    sunday gym

my gym routine which was handed to me tonight :

5 mins warm up on the treadmill.

    chest press 25kg X 10
    bent over pully 15kg X 10
    press up X 10

and then repeat that set 3 times.

    then
    lats (DB pullover) 12.5kg X 10
    shoulder press 7.5kg X 10
    lat raise 3kg X 10

and then repeat that set 3 times.

    does it look ok?
anything recommended for after this set?
should i do some cardio after i finish?
im doing my best with my diet, but have changed it big time since i joined the gym and modified it as i went along while reading the stickies here.

    typical diet :

breakfast @ 10.30 - 2 eggs scrambledor 2 poached eggs with 2 slices of brown bread toast

lunch @ 1.30 - chicken fillet with some veg and some rice

afternoon meal @ 5.00 - chicken fillet with some veg and some rice

evening meal - chicken fillet or fish fillet with veg a small bit of spuds (not loads)

sorry for the rant, all comments welcome.

I'm not qualified to comment on your gym routine, so I won't - but I think I'd recommend having Sunday as a rest day also... Only so much the body can take and with five "training/match" days you're at you're limit as it is, I suggest.

i get what your saying alright, but would the 2 weights workouts be enough to see an improovement or would the 3 be needed?

i suppose i could aim for the 2 nights at weights then if im ok or bored on a sunday, get a sneaky one in :D

I just think - as someone who plays ball myself - that the day after a match is crucial rest time. Have a long, slow walk to iron out the stiffness maybe. Or a swim. But a gym session? I don't think that's wise to be honest.

Surely you must eat more than that? If I ate that amount with that level of activity I would be about 6 stone.
