Is it the crowne plaza at the airport/santry or in blanchardstown. If its the airport one then you have one of the best venues around imo as the location and facilities are all top notch. Their main conference room is really good and well worth the fee's they charge for it and I always thought this was a great place to host a poker comp.

Looks pretty good, looking forward to the details. Needs about 110-120 runners to make the guarantee by the looks of it.

I presume one can only register on leprechaun poker? I hope the dealers will be wearing normal attire, not red beards and green outfits etc :D

your right Danny on Both points.

250 players will clear the guarantee..

We agree that Christmas is a family time, but the calendar is pretty much full up with tournaments. So we decided between Christmas and New year would be best as it is right in the middle of the holidays. No work for most people...

No idea why, but I thought it was €25k guaranteed. :(

Better incentive now though. Family, pffft. Real poker players have their priorities right!!!

Yeah, it would be my preference to include those levels and reduce the clock to 1 hour. All in all though, sounds pretty sweet for a $275 tourney.

    Hi guys,
The tournament has to end at some stage and to include these levels with the 90 minute clock could run us into major problems. (sorry BCB, don't know how to include two quotes but I hope this answers your concerns as well).

We Set out to do a tournament that was slightly different from the norm..

All i can say guys is... Well it's different..:)

Now before making this post I just want to say 2 things:
    1. I am not in any way involved in the running of this event
    2. I don't think this is a "great" blind structure but it is something different

But lets take a look at this structure vs the "Standard" 1hr blind structure. (Note I have omitted the ante for ease of reading but i have put in the 150-300 level twice in the 1hr structure as usually its played as 150-300 then 150-300 with a 25ante)

    15hr | Cap | 50000 | 100000 | 25000 | 50000
So if you look at the table, you are always playing with the same or lower blinds in this structure that you would be in the equivalent 1hr structure. Now it goes without saying that if they were to use the "Standard Structure" with 90min levels this tourney would be incredible for $275, perhaps even too good, but in the time frame available it would simply not be possible.

One thing that i have to say is really bad is the ante structure with this event. It needs sorting out. This 25chips will still be in play after 16.5hrs play. That's far too long!!! Changing the 1000-2000-150 level to 1000-2000-200 would mean you could remove the 25 chips after 10.5hrs, which is quite close to the "Standard time" which would be after 8-9hrs.

Also bring the ante's more in line with the standard I.e. the ante ~= 10% of the big blind. Yours appears to be ~= 5% of the big blind. This will allow removal of the 100chips and the 500chips sooner.

I also strongly suggest adding 1500 - 3000 - 300 in between 1000-2000. Doubling the blinds at that stage will kill an awful lot of play.

    So in summary:
    • Its not as bad a structure as it first appears
    • The ante values need to be looked at!!
    • Please add 1500-3000-300 to the structure!!
    Regards
    Ian

it is only $275 as Ian said so i don't think people should fret too much over it.. where else are you gonna find a tourney like this with that much guaranteed for $275??? i would probably play this tourney if the structure was worse tbh and the structure really isnt that bad.. like 1.5hr blinds are huge.. most tourneys around the 200e mark have 8k/10k stacks and half hour blinds with no guarantees

wow Ian, thats a lot of work you did there on the blind structure,

thanks for that, so impressed am i that i will discuss with Bru and we may actually make a change or 2, but only in the direction you suggest

tbh, the structure is designed round the time frame allowed, as BRU correctly states, the event has to end sometime and its alreeady great value

as you can imagine, costs spiral over time, especially dealer costs and venue hire

its a value tourney, priced to allow more or less everone who plays, a chance to play a deep stack event with an elongated blind structure

dont forget the 15k starting stack also stretches the time frame, we need to end it by the 3rd day

thanks again Ian, I know you have zero to do with the tourney, so well done

incidentally, the winners trophy for this event will be something special too

all we need now is a few players to sign up

the entry fee is in US$ dollars to facilitate the website, but the 50,000 is €s

    Thanks Ciaran,

Judging by the IPO, we have a very strong standard to live up to.
