Would anybody here have a rough idea of insurance for a gym? Was on a while ago inquiring about opinions on a performance centre and just looking to put together a rough idea of costs to see if it's possible. (It's college related for now but in a few years would hope to be in the position to act on the idea) thanks

    Three kinds of insurance needed:
    Building insurance- dependant on lease
Contents insurance- for your contents (duh)
Public Liability- for those who like to claim

All of those depend on things like square footage, costs, amount of people you cater for etc. so there's no way of saying X or Y costs this. You could come up with an imaginary facility and ring an insurance company. They're happy to quote.

You'd need a black belt certificate from a recognised organisation, or to have a coaching qualification to get any public liability insurance.

The black belt is a bit of a wishy washy standard as most "black belts" are no more qualified to coach a class than the man on the street, but in the absence of anything else, that's what the 2 insurance carriers in Ireland look for.
