Is the Garda a zero tolerance policy on anyone who's been convicted of any offences etc? Does this automatically rule them out from joining? Or is it a case-by-case basis where it's accepted that people learn from their mistakes?

Are RTA offences (points, speeding, dangerous driving, whatever) taken in the same light as other offences or are they excluded like on application forms for most jobs where they ask something like "have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence (except those under the RTA)" ?

    Thanks

Minor traffic offences such as speeding would not go against your application unless of course you have several points. As for the rest your application would go to the Commisioner for a decision. He will take everything into consideration and either approve or reject your application.
