I've posted about them before but the responses are usually pretty thin on the ground unfortunately. Personally I think they're great, the combination of Tremonti and Kennedy on guitar/vocals is awesome and Blackbird has proved that they're really developing as a band. The choice of singles has been somewhat of a let down but I'd put that solely down to Universal wanting the most radio friendly releases out there.

Definitely hoping to catch them live on the next tour though, saw them back in 2004 and they were class.

Can't do it lads. I think Tremonti is an awesome axe player...

Though I keep expecting Creed everytime I listen to them and just can't warm to them unfortunately.

Have to say this band have totally blown me away. I only discovered them this earlier this year but they have become one of my favourite bands in a very short period of time. Blackbird is an amazing album, not a filler on it, the opening track Ties That Bind is the perfect start to a perfect album. Their first album One Day Remains is superb as well. Both albums are played in my house at least once a week & I aint grown tired of either yet. :)

I dont know if the fact that although I'd heard of, but never heard much from, Creed before has anything to do with it but I cant rate these guys enough.

Really like them as well ordered Black Bird last week so waiting for it to arrive sometime this week. I love Metalingus , Open Your Eyes , In Loving Memory , Rise Today and the new single Watch Over You(which i am listening to at the monet) Myles has a great voice

Big fan of alterbridge. Both albums imo are near fawless. They may not be metals saviors or whatever but if your looking for a semi radio freindly hard rock band with loads of tallent look no further.

Ah it cant get much better than that. many a night spent rocking out drunk to it. Isnt the lead singer in that rock film with mark walhburg also? Class singer!!

I seen these in astoria in london back in Jan of this year. Great gig....I have always been a fan though, since they began in 04..Not sure why but it did take me longer to warm to blackbird than the first album, but do love it now

I read somewhere, responses from Tremonti, about Myles being the new singer for Zepplin, he said AB will go on regardless.

Also might be of interest to fans of this band reading this thread:

Myles first band 'The Mayfield four' ...get their albums, some pretty decent tunes. They only had 2 albums but 'eden' is pretty good.

PS....They are playing in London this saturday night, seriously considering going...

    wait what?
    Signing for Zepplin
    Any links?

I heard that rumour about Zep as well on another forum but not sure just how true it is. It'd be a great step for Myles Kennedy but a great loss to Alter Bridge, they seem to be so suited to each other.

Would love to be going to see them on Saturday - Brixton Academy isnt it? Heading to London the weekend after and couldnt do 2 weekends in a row.

Apparently there were roumers of chris cornell too singing for zep, i wouldnt be interested in seeing em without plant though TBH.

Anyway back on topic yea myles was in the end of rockstar, the guy who gets pulled on stage by mark wallburg(or however you spell it) to be his replacment in steel dragon.

Would be terrible to lose him as the singer in alterbridge, i dont think he could be replaced.

Yea, another great band to be honest. Kennedy's vocals in Summergirl are un-bloody-believable at the end. Fave tune has to be Sick And Wrong though, great tune to play nice and loud. ;)

He was also in a two Jazz Fusion bands back in the day called Citizen Swing and Cosmic Dust. Managed to pick up the albums by them off Amazon and some obscure Jazz site and gotta say, there's some fantastic playing on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

Gotta check that stuff out then, myles has gotta be one of the most unsung heros of modern hard rock.

Only found out about these earlier this year and thought they were excellent. Saw them at Download in June and they were excellent (but nobody ever moves at their sets?!); great stadium/festival sound.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,485 ✭✭✭Mr. K

A friend introduced me to them a couple of years ago, they're excellent. I'd love to see them live sometime! One Day Remains was an instant classic, while Blackbird is a bit of grower. I haven't listened to them in ages, must do so soon!

I had never heard of Alterbridge until my boyfriend introduced me to their music. I was blown away by both albums, but in particular I love the song "In Loving Memory" Tremonti wrote it for his mam who died of cancer, and Myles sings it beautifully. Myles has one of the best voices of all time in my opinion, and I think the band are VERY underrated. If you can see them seperate and not compare them to creed (Scott boils my blood) then I think alot of people would appreciate them more :p

New Alter Bridge album out in september/october. Its described as dynamic, heavy and dark. That couldnt sound more epic for an alter bridge album. Mark is singing on one of the songs which is kind of ridiculous given that Myles is one of the best vocalists around but i suppose mark has a decent voice. Cant wait for the new single its supposed to be the heaviest song they have done

Awesome, have my fingers and toes crossed that they'll hopefully play a gig here once they start touring..

Anyone know the title of the new album?

One of my all time favourites, good to see many others view in as high esteem.

I remember being at Black Stone Cherry a few years back and before they came on, Find The Real started playing over the P.A. Pleasantly surprised to see loads rocking to it. Hopefully they'll play here at some stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

    awesome band.

Voltwad, How amazing are black stone cherry live? I couldn't believe how good they were, then again I hadn't been listening to them for very long before the gig.

Back to Alterbridge, I reckon isolation is gonna be a cracker of a song. Would b amazing if they played in Ireland, At the slash gig, Me and the boyfriend had alterbridge tshirts and held them up and started chanting alterbridge, Myles looked over at us with a big grin on his face :D

Alterbridge in Ireland.... We can always dream :)

BSC were one of the best live acts I've ever seen.

Yeah it's a dream of mine, Myles if you're reading this, stall it :)

Yeah BSC definitely one of the best live bands out there today. Airbourne are amazing too. Their playing near the end of this year, If you haven't seen them yet, Go!!

I saw myles when we was with slash a few months back in vicar street, brilliant voice and sounds just as good live!

I'm a big alter bridge fan, Great music, brilliant vocals, just straight out balls to the wall rock!! Love it!!

Song called isolation from their new album
    I love it!

What a song! Very, very catchy and maybe a little more commercial than some of their other stuff, so it'll probably (hopefully) get some good plays on the radio, I think this will be the album to really get their name out there :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,292 ✭✭✭TangyZizzle

Hahaha, just visited the bands site there.. got the face blown off me by the intro :pac: these guys dont sound half bad :)

Theyre playin England in mid October.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,405 ✭✭✭gizmo

****ing tune! Totally stoked for this now! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,405 ✭✭✭gizmo

Another song, Words Darker Than Their Wings, can now be downloaded from the Roadrunnerrecords website.

It's the song which Tremonti sings on and it's already growing on me. It's a bit more radio friendly than Isolation but damn that chorus is ****ing great! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Navy1

Fantastic band. Heavy Rock at it's best. Intelligent songwriting and Tremonti is very underrated as a lead guitarist.
The title track to "Blackbird" is an epic song. I'd put it on a par with Whitesnake's "Still Of The Night", which may not be to eveybody's taste, but is a song that stood the test of time, as will this entire album.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 411 ✭✭HBK

    Sooo..the albums finally leaked!

I must admit, I was not a huge fan of Blackbird, the first album yes, 2nd not so much...upon first listen to AB 3 i'm impressed..well...to at least 7 or 8 of the 14 songs....

Some epic tunes on it.....then some somewhat boring repitition...

    Overall 7/10 :)

HBK, I was the same when I heard the album for the first/second time but I'm finding the more I'm listening to it the more I like certain songs I didn't at the start. Slip to the void is amazing, as is isolation-lyrics and listening wise. Listen to it a few times you might start to like a few other songs :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Chrisi

Hellooo all Alter bridge fans! :D Anyone from Ireland heading over to London on the 23rd of this month for the Hammersmith gig? Cannot express in words how f*cking excited I am, Saw Myles with Slash in Vicar street, felt a little let down after that (nobodys fault might I add!) So I'm hoping Myles is gonna belt out a few amazing tunes in London :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 955 ✭✭✭Wooden Jesus

The songs i didnt like off the new album are growing on me the more i listen. Just turn it up loud and sit back and get blown away. As good as the last 2 albums with some monstrous riffs. Have my copy ordered so hopefully first thing monday i can throw it into a stereo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Chrisi

Slowly becoming my favourite album, Myles's voice is just unreal as always and as for Tremonti... wooden jesus your right the riffs my god he just never fails to amaze me...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

Damn you Chrisi! I'm in London on the 23rd and was thinking of checking this out. They're in London on the 22nd, Southhampton on the 23rd. Oh well :(

    Agreed guys.

Slip the void is epic, as is Isolation, the riff on Still remains is Awesome! :)

Ghost of days gone by is fairly uplifting for such a dark album, great for turning up loud when driving, classic american rock tune I must say!

Wonderful life sounds like its missing off a Bon Jovi record though :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 Chrisi

I must agree wonderful life is kinda cheesy but I love it! Its like the "in loving memory" of this album. Cheesy enough like, but Myles voice makes it that little bit cooler :P

I'm also really really liking Coeur D’Alene, very catchy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 955 ✭✭✭Wooden Jesus

Wonderful life is like in loving memory part2. Listen to them one after the other.
Its awesome that theres no filler songs on the album its just such a complete album

I would'nt go that far now.
All hope is gone/Make it right spring to mind as filler.

Overall though, a very good album :)

Awesome band.......great tunes and savage musicians. Saw them at the 'Rock Im Park' a couple of years back-killer :) but why no Irish show? That really pisses me off. There is no excuse for bands not to be coming here-similar seized bands in the same or similar genres come here all the time eg 'Airbourne,Black Stone Cherry' etc etc NO EXCUSE

BSC have been here twice. Airbourne have been here too if I recall correctly.

Airbourne played whelans 2 or 3 years ago and are playing again next month. To be fair the amount of UK shows alter bridge are playing its a bit **** they wont come across and play one here

Thought I would throw this up, a chance to play any song of your choice onstage with the band during sound check. (over in england tho but worth the travel if you won)

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/win_a_chance_to_play_with_alter_bridge.html
Alternative metal group Alter Bridge, who are about to release their new album on October 11th and are to head out on a UK tour later this month, have announced a truly unique experience that they are offering a few lucky fans who win an online contest.

Alter Bridge are going to be giving five random fans an opportunity not only to attend the concert of their choice, but also to get up on stage and perform with the band at the desired revenue. The winners will each get to choose whether they want to play bass, drums, guitar, or vocals, and will then be able to pick the song they want to perform.

As well as getting a chance to play onstage with some of their heroes, the lucky five who win the draw will also get a copy of the new album, ABIII, and an additional three tickets to invite friends to the show as well.

Those interested in signing up for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity can visit this location where they’ll be able to enter the contest.

And for those who didn’t catch the UK tour dates when they were announced, here they are again:

    10/16 - Glasgow O2 Academy
    10/17 - Newcastle O2 Academy
    10/19 - Manchester Academy
    10/20 - Nottingham Rock City
    10/22 - London Hammersmith Apollo
    10/23 - Southampton Guildhall
    10/25 - Birmingham O2 Academy
    10/26 - Bristol Colston Hall

if i won that comp i'd definitely ask them to play rock and roll by led zep just so i could hear miles sing it in person... choooon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

I'm going to be in the minority here, but the album is not blowing me away so far.

It has it's moments, but am finding a lot of it to be a bit dull. Very very well played but dull nonetheless.

Am kinda hoping it turns out to be a grower as I liked the two albums that came before.
