Before i give any details i want to say that i am aware that no medical info can be given but what i'm really looking for is the opinion of people who may have been in my situation in the past. Anyway, 2 months ago i had knee surgery after an mri scan showing clear. The surgeon said there was some "wear and tear" and he released the "plica" in my knee. Think its something like cartilage. For the last 5 years i have being doing road running and when fit i'm about 15 stone so i'm not the ideal build for the sport! The surgeon told me to re access how i fit running into my everyday life, ie, not having enough time to warm up or cool down. So since then i have being going on my bike just to get some non impact exercise but still i feel the same problem in the front of my knee. Today i ran about 2 mile of the marathon with a friend who was in some trouble and my knee has been very sore since. I'm going to contact the surgeon but before that i wanted to know where i stand with this. As far as i can see the surgery has been a failure. anyone have any opinions??? Sorry this is so long:(:(

Been to a physio? I'd recommend you see a good physio as well as surgeon. I had pain in my knees for a few years, thought it was patellar tendonitis but mri showed up clear. It only improved when i did stretching and squats etc on a regular basis.

Thanks Ronbyrne, i was seeing a physio at the time aswell and was shown some stretches to do. I wont say i've been doing them every day but have been doing them a few times a week. The worrying thing for me is that its the exact same pain than i had before. Think i'll ring the surgeon but at this stage the money is running out, surgery is expensive stuff!!!!!!!

Consistency & dicipline is the key here. Stick at them and you should see results. A few times a week wont do anything.
I'm sure the Physio looked at your footwear also as this can be a source of most of the problems?

Long before i went to see a specialist, i went to a physio and i got orthotics made which i've being wearing since. I cant say they've made a great improvement but i am thinking that the problem could be a lot worse if i didnt have the orthotics. I could increase the amount of stretching but my worry is that the pain i feel after the slowest of jogs is the exact same problem i had the surgery for. I'm thinking more of an unsucessful operation. But maybe i'm wrong
