    Sorry for the bad title.

    I am going to make a statement that may seem a bit odd but I have my reason for saying it. It is just is becoming more and more apparent the more I think about it. I am not giving a reason as to why I am saying it, I am just saying it. You can let me know if you agree with me or not.

    IMN will buy TV3 in 2009/2010. IMO.

    Someone will buy them, at any rate. Venture capital companies generally do not enter businesses for the sake of running them long term (unless they do a DCC and transform themselves into an industrial holding company, which occassionaly happens). More normally they buy an asset with the intention of selling it for a handsome profit later on (and getting any cash they can out of it in the meantime).

    However, while the normal competition rules seem to be somewhat suspended at the moment in some areas, I cannot see INM being allowed to take over TV3, even in the current climate.

    I don't know if we ever had normal competition rules, Lazzie Faire attituded of the BCI and other regulators would let the takeover happen. Even with Denis O'Brien shareholding of INM I cann't see anyone stopping them. They currently have no interests in Radio or TV media in Ireland AFAIK.
